Samsung introduces Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today introduced the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23, ushering in a new era in the best-in-class Samsung Galaxy phone experience. Samsung Galaxy’s epic camera gives users more freedom to explore their creativity, like capturing truly cinematic Nightography videos with transformative AI.

The “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy” unleashes a premium experience, including revolutionary AI, future-ready mobile gaming, and powerful, sustained gameplay with the world’s fastest mobile graphics.[1] On the Galaxy S23 Ultra model, the S Pen[2] that many Samsung Galaxy users have long known and love offers more possibilities for productivity, note-taking, hobbies and much more. All of the standard-setting innovations of the Galaxy S23 series are housed within a striking design that furthers Samsung’s sustainability commitment with more recycled materials than any other Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

“The most impactful technology is measured not only by what it empowers people today, but also by how it contributes to a better future,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Galaxy S23 Ultra and the full range of the Galaxy S series are the new standard bearers for a trusted premium smartphone experience. We are redefining ultimate performance by fusing power and lasting innovation into devices that have a lower environmental impact.”

A camera with the most megapixels and extensive creative controls, from day to night

Galaxy S23 Ultra makes it easy for any level of photographer to capture phenomenal content. It offers the most advanced camera system in Samsung Galaxy, adapted to almost any lighting condition and designed to offer incredible detail. Enhanced Nightography capabilities transform the way the Galaxy S series optimizes photos and videos in a wide range of environmental conditions. Filming a favorite song at a concert, taking a selfie at the aquarium, or taking a group photo of friends at a dinner: users can get sharper images and videos.[3]. Visual noise that often mars images in low light is corrected using a new AI-based Image Signal Processing (ISP) algorithm that improves object detail and color tone.

In a Samsung Galaxy first, Galaxy S23 Ultra features a new 200MP Adaptive Pixel sensor that captures epic moments with incredible precision. It uses pixel binning to support multiple levels of high-resolution rendering at once.[4] And with selfie cameras more important than ever to the way we communicate today, the Galaxy S23 series introduces fast autofocus and our first Super HDR selfie camera, which jumps from 30fps to 60fps, for Noticeably better front-facing images and videos.

For users who want maximum creative control and customization, the Galaxy S series offers a set of tools that differentiate any photographic experience. The Expert RAW application,[5] Available exclusively for Samsung Galaxy, it lets you capture and edit DSLR-style images in RAW and JPEG, without the need for bulky camera equipment. Users can experiment with multiple exposure photo art or capture a clear view of the Milky Way with Astrophoto settings, either within the Samsung Camera app.[6] or from the Expert RAW application. For its part, the new zoom functions of the Camera Controller application[7] from the Galaxy Watch5 series allow users to capture a perfectly framed image from their wrist.

Other camera advances are:

  • In low light or in situations that would normally create a blurry effect, videos are stable thanks to the doubled angles of the lens. optical image stabilizer (OIS) in all directions.[8]
  • Videos are more cinematic thanks to enhanced 8K video[9] at 30 frames per second with a wider angle.
  • The Advanced object-based AI analyzes every detail in the frame, even the minute facial features such as hair and eyes, to carefully reflect the dynamic characteristics of a person.
  • For an even better video experience, the new feature 360 Audio Recording [10] on Galaxy Buds2 Pro creates multi-dimensional sound.

On the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23, Samsung Galaxy’s iconic camera also gets an updated look. The contour case has been removed, marking a new era of essential Galaxy design that makes the entire series stand out.

Premium performance for the future of mobile gaming

For creators and gamers alike, the desire to push the boundaries and constantly reimagine what’s possible requires technology that exceeds expectations. Qualcomm’s “Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy” mobile platform enables unprecedented performance, while Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery[11] lasts over 20% longer.[12] Galaxy S23 Ultra graphics performance is faster by more than 40%[13] and its AI performance has also been optimized by more than 40%[14] to balance performance and power for photography, videography, low-latency gaming, and more. Anticipating the future of maximum digital realism, Galaxy S23 Ultra is ready to support real-time ray tracing coming to mobile games. Users will be able to see much more real scenes thanks to technology that simulates and tracks each ray of light. Plus, Samsung Galaxy’s now larger Vapor Cooling Chamber on all Galaxy S23 series models ensures that immersing yourself in a gaming marathon won’t slow down your experience.

All this power underpins the expansive 6.8-inch Edge display.[15] of Galaxy S23 Ultra with reduced curvature to create a larger, flatter surface for the best viewing experience on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Samsung Galaxy’s exclusive Enhanced comfort feature allows users to adjust color tones and contrast levels, reducing eye fatigue caused by late-night screen viewing. Vision boost now adjusts to four lighting levels[16] instead of two to combat glare and reflections in daylight.

Sustainability advances the essence of Samsung Galaxy

The Galaxy S23 series raises the bar for premium technology designed with the planet in mind. In its manufacture have been used even more[17] recycled materials than in the Galaxy S22 series, such as pre-consumer recycled aluminum and recycled glass, and post-consumer recycled plastics from discarded fishing nets[18]barrels of water and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.

The new S-Series is the first to market with Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2, which adds greater durability for long-term use and is designed with an average of 22% pre-consumer recycled content.[19]. Additionally, all Galaxy S23 smartphones come in redesigned packaging boxes made from 100% recycled paper.

With the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung Galaxy does more to minimize its impact on the environment without compromising quality and aesthetics. The Galaxy S23 series is UL ECOLOGO® certified[20]which means that the product has been certified for its reduced environmental impact.

For users who want to extend the life of their device, the premium experience of the Galaxy S23 series can be maintained over the years with four generations of operating system updates and five years of security updates.[21]. To ensure longevity, users can also take advantage of various programs like Samsung Care+[22]an assistance service for accidental damage, repairs and much more.

Easy-to-use security and privacy enabling a transparent experience without compromise

Secure and private experiences are the foundation of the Galaxy S23 series. All smartphones come with Samsung’s comprehensive Samsung Knox protection, which has received more government and industry certifications than any other mobile device, platform or solution on the market. The Samsung Galaxy Security & Privacy Dashboard lets you know who has access to your data and how it’s used. With just a glance, it’s easy to see if personal data is at risk and receive easy prompts to change settings for a more secure experience. Users can also decide exactly which apps and programs have access to their data and how it can be used.

For an added level of security, Knox Vault, first introduced on the Galaxy S21 series, protects critical information on the Galaxy S23 series by isolating it from the rest of the device, including the operating system, for further protection against vulnerabilities.

More freedom and flexibility for connected lifestyles

At the core of the premium experience of the Galaxy S series is the uncompromising innovation of Samsung Galaxy Ultra. But the power and creative capabilities of Samsung Galaxy Ultra aren’t limited to smartphones. With the new Galaxy Book3 Ultra, the first ever, and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, users can now enjoy the ultimate Samsung Galaxy ecosystem.

On all Galaxy S series models, connected experiences gain additional benefits. Samsung MultiControl[23]which connects mouse and keyboard functions between a PC and a Samsung Galaxy tablet, is now extended to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 to offer maximum flexibility between devices. Plus, improved use of text makes it easy to copy and paste text, such as URLs, from one device to another to pick up an activity on another device. On Galaxy S23 Ultra, Google Meet, together with Samsung Notes and the integrated S Pen, make video calls even more collaborative. With Google Meet live sharing, participants can simultaneously co-edit a document from each of their Android devices, instead of seeing a shared screen.[24]
