God of War Poll: This is the world of gods you want to mess with next

Most of you agree when it comes to the next setting.

After God of War Ragnarök, the Nordic world of gods is over; that much is already certain. In the next installment in the series, Kratos, the god of war – or son of Atreus – must face new challenges. So we wanted to know from you which pantheon you want to fight your way through in the next game. The survey has shown that for the majority of you, the desired setting is clear.

That’s how you voted

In our survey, we gave you several worlds of the gods to choose from. Among them were, for example, Shintoism (Japan), the Sumerian religion, the Aztec world of gods and, of course, the Egyptian. We also offered you the Japanese folk beliefs with the yokai, which, strictly speaking, is not a religion.

These are the results:

  • 61% Egyptian gods (2,851 votes)
  • 9% Aztec gods (406 votes)
  • 8th% Shinto religion (383 votes)
  • 6% Yokai and Japanese folk beliefs (280 votes)
  • 6% Inca gods (267 votes)
  • 3% Hinduism (161 votes)
  • 3% Chinese mythology (146 votes)
  • 3% Sumerian gods (141 votes)
  • 1% West African Yoruba religion (61 votes)

Total votes: 4,696 (as of February 3, 11:50 a.m.)

In the comments, many of you have justified your choice. Yozakura sees it like most of you, explaining:

There is only one answer and that is Egypt. There are too few games that use the setting sensibly anyway.

vQNero, on the other hand, did not vote with the majority and explains this as follows:

I voted for Sumerian gods and Mesopotamia because that era is still missing from the world of video games. Japan, China, Egypt we’ve all had it and I’d love to see Tiamat, Abzu, Inanna, Ereshkigal, Marduk, etc in action. But I wouldn’t be averse to the Aztec world of gods either.

Dorument is even easier to please:

As far as I’m concerned, the Spartan cleaning crew can sweep through any world of gods.

God of War Ragnarök – How the character and monster designs came about

That Egypt is so far ahead is not really surprising. After all, the Egyptian world of gods with representatives like Osiris is certainly the best known in this country. There is also something mysterious and epic about the setting with the impressive pyramids, and there has been speculation about this location.

Many fans have probably already made friends with the idea. Nevertheless, we can still be excited.

Did you expect Egypt to be so clearly ahead?
