The Day Before finally shows 10 minutes of gameplay, but the doubts remain

The Day Before – New gameplay showcase showcases crafting and exploration
Survival MMO The Day Before hasn’t exactly made a name for itself in the past few days. Rather, Fntastic, the developer studio behind the already controversial project, attracted attention with further contradictory statements. A new trailer (see above), which finally shows us ten minutes of new gameplay, doesn’t change that much.

That happened: Things got weird after The Day Before suddenly disappeared from Steam a few days ago. At first it was said that it was a technical error. Then a lawsuit over the brand name was given as the reason, which ultimately also led to the game being postponed as well as new gameplay. Or not, because a statement said that the postponement had been planned anyway.
Either way, we’ll have to wait until November 10, 2023 to see what kind of game Fntastic will release there. The gameplay, on the other hand, came out fresh.
New gameplay hardly eliminates worries
However, the gameplay does not exactly cause cheers in the community. In the comments on YouTube there is more mockery and sarcasm than honest enthusiasm. The tone is still that The Day Before will probably never come out because it’s either fake or just too much for Fntastic:
It would be cool if the game turns out to be fake (and I think it will), a real developer takes everything we’ve just seen and turns it into a real The Day Before. With a different name, of course, but at least as a good zombie game. I love the concept, unfortunately nobody is able to get it right. Maybe one day.

However, if The Day Before does appear, excitement about the new gameplay will be limited. The term “walking simulator” is used again and again. The trailer also shows fights with zombies and crafting, but most of the time the characters just boringly jog through the open world and collect some loot. This is of course not unusual for a survival game of this kind, but what is shown still lacks excitement.

While The Day Before is still not available on Steam, the current release date for PC is November 10th, 2023. Versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have already been confirmed, but are likely to be a long time coming.
