The Japanese manufacturer Sony is expanding its range of accessories with a new product line called “Inzone”, which is aimed specifically at PC gamers and is intended to offer “an immersive gaming experience”. Specifically, the Inzone series is launched with two 27-inch monitors and three headsets, as if from an official one press release of the company. All details about the new gaming peripherals from Sony are shown in the following overview.
Sony Inzone M9/M3: gaming monitors with VRR and more
Both the Inzone M9 and the M3 are based on a screen diagonal of 27 inches and promise various features with which the gaming experience should be designed to be smooth and high-resolution. While the M9, which is equipped with an IPS panel, has a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) with a refresh rate of 144 Hertz, the cheaper Inzone M3 sticks to the classic Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. In return, it can display even higher frame rates with a frequency of 240 Hz and, thanks to VRR, can vary them flexibly in order to prevent potential screen tearing.
Both displays are also equipped with HDR, with the Inzone M9 DisplayHDR 600 and the sister model being DisplayHDR 400 certified. According to Sony, the M9 achieves a maximum brightness of 600 cd/m². 400 cd/m² is a typical value for both monitors. According to the manufacturer, the M9 screen also covers more than 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, while the M3 model has to make do with 99 percent coverage of the sRGB color space.
The differences in the specs are also reflected in the price: the Sony Inzone M9 should go over the counter from summer 2022 at a price of 1,099 euros. More details on the Sony Inzone M3 will follow – however, there is speculation about a recommended retail price of 599 euros.
Sony Inzone H9/H7/H3: gaming headsets with 360 degree surround sound
With the Inzone H9 and H7, Sony has also presented two wireless headsets that are said to be compatible with the Playstation 5 in addition to the PC area of application. The premium model H9 is equipped with support for 360° surround sound and active noise suppression, which, in addition to classic noise cancelling, also support the transparency mode, which allows ambient noise to pass through at a comfortable volume if necessary.
With a battery life of up to 32 hours, longer gaming sessions should also be provided; The Inzone H9 is charged via a quick charger, which can provide a usage time of 60 minutes within ten minutes of charging. The Inzone H7 can last even longer with up to 40 hours, but does not have the ANC function at all. The Inzone H3, on the other hand, positions itself as a wired headset for which no other features have been announced apart from the integrated surround sound.
The headsets will be available from numerous retailers in July 2022, according to Sony. The Inzone headsets can already be used pre-order on the official Sony website: The manufacturer calls out 99 euros as an RRP for the Inzone H3, while the H7 is to be sold for 229 euros. As the top-of-the-range model, the Inzone H9 also has the highest price tag at €299.
