Diablo Immortal: Players mock Wal who spent over €32,000 and still fails

Pay2Win is still a big theme in Diablo Immortal. Apparently, just pumping money into the game isn’t enough, as one player found out. As he says, despite investing heavily, he just can’t win often enough.

This is the story:

  • Diablo Immortal is considered an absolute Pay2Win game in the community. On MeinMMO we have already covered the Pay2Win factor of Diablo Immortal in the podcast.
  • However, one player complains that he doesn’t win often enough in PvP with other players. And that despite the fact that he spent the equivalent of more than 32,500 euros.
  • The community reacts with ridicule because he actually plays one of the classes that everyone else thinks is strong.

One reason for the often appropriate Pay2Win are the legendary gems. In the video we explain what they are all about:

Diablo Immortal: What are Legendary Gems? Facts and locations in 3 minutes

This is what the “whale” says: On the official Diablo Immortal Discord, a user complains that he doesn’t have a chance with his barbarian in PvP. He would immediately get control abilities (“CC”), be stunned, and then just watch him die.

In mobile games, whales are players who spend a lot of money. The player in question said he spent over $34,000 (around €32,500). That’s enough for a response of over 5,000 – actually far above what players normally have in PvP.

The player asks that control skills should be nerfed in the next update because he “only” wins 60% of his PvP matches. He assumed that with enough money he could simply win more.

He now thinks that Diablo Immortal can’t even be Pay2Win:

“I think Diablo Immortal is not a pay2win gmae. My barbarian is just a joke. When you hop into the battlefield, all that CC just pours out at me with incredible range. I can only watch as my health drains and my Immortal Rage activates.”

Now he’s considering whether he shouldn’t even apply for a refund from Blizzard – and is ridiculed in the community.

Community scoffs: “You don’t pay enough”

There are at least some serious replies on Discord advising the whale to delve more into the game. Simply paying is not enough, contrary to what the Diablo Immortal community claims. You have to be able to play a little bit.

Others scoff at the fact that he doesn’t seem to be paying enough. He either plays against very strong players or against those who have simply invested even more. Probably not uncommon on the legend rank in PvP. He would probably have to invest more, after all, a “Max-Char” costs even more:

Realize players: In Diablo Immortal it costs over €511,000 if you want to have the strongest character

The topic was also on reddit treated. In particular, the player’s statement that barbarians are just bad in PvP is torn up here. The melee fighters are rather low on the Diablo Immortal tier list, but they are really strong in PvP.

Gameplay of all classes can be seen here in the video:

Diablo Immortal: All 6 classes at a glance with gameplay

Here the players explain, for example, that they could easily celebrate victories even with the “bad” magicians and scoff that he should simply provide a better class with money. Demon hunters for example.

However, they agree that barbarians actually have no problems in PvP and come up with comments like: “Tell me you’re bad without telling me you’re bad.” or:

Seriously, barbarians are nearly unkillable in battlefields as they are. Add the right resonating gems and they just don’t die.

If it was April I would think it was a hoax.

I play a barbarian. 1,800 combat rating, 400 resonance. Whirlwind, Leap, Stomp, Berserker.

Lots of laughter and talk of the Pay2Win tears also ensue. In any case, the player does not get much sympathy.

However, the topic of Pay2Win still concerns the community, even from a professional point of view. Apparently, for some, it’s even important enough to stop work:
