Steam hit Stray: How fast is your CPU or graphics card? The PCGH Community Benchmark

In the benchmark forum, PCGHX user Darkearth27 has opened two threads to get involved. Both benchmark projects are about the unusual Steam hit Stray, which had over 60,000 simultaneous players at launch and already has a busy modding community. Stray is played from a cat’s point of view in a cyberpunk world. There is one Graphics card benchmark threadbut also a separate one CPU benchmark thread. It explains how PCGHX users who own Stray can run a CPU or GPU benchmark to populate a benchmark database. We recently had a similar hands-on project for The Ascent, Cyberpunk 2077, 3D mark, Kingdom come delivery or battlefield 5 started. Hundreds of benchmark values have now been entered there – thanks at this point!

Stray: background and benchmarks

Stray isn’t just a string of adorable moments, or even a playable cat movie, it’s significantly deeper. The story in the dystopian cyberpunk setting proves to be superbly staged, does not skimp on social criticism, rewards explorers with countless loving details and arouses emotions. Although Stray is based on the powerful Unreal Engine 4, it only pulls out a few of the existing stops. In addition to a manageable graphics menu, there is no ray tracing, DLSS or FSR on the PC. The developers mention DirectX 12 in the system requirements, but the game starts and runs under DirectX 11. This ensures greater compatibility, but leads to a greater overhead, which has to be compensated for by processor performance.

Of course you need the right place in the game for the benchmark. And you also have to know the graphics settings and the process. This is all explained in the benchmark thread. becomes a bench CapFrameX used in the current, Results are uploaded there in the cloud version and then used for validation. In order to be included in the list, the benchmark must be submitted according to the following scheme:

username | Processor (Cores/Threads)| CPU clock / Max Boost according to CX | RAM, timings | Graphics card | Avg. Fps / P1 |Cloud link

or
Resolution (2160p/1440p/1080p)
username | Processor (Cores/Threads)| CPU clock / Max Boost according to CX | RAM, timings | Graphics card chip / Mem clock | Avg. Fps / P1 |Cloud link

Example:
1440p
Darkearth27 | Ryzen 5800X3D (8c/16t) | 4.450MHz (Stock) | 32 GiB DDR4-4000, CL15, 1T | RX 6900XT 2744 / 2124MHz | 152.4/121 hp | link

There are already some values in the forum, including for the Ryzen 7 5800X, the RTX 3090 Ti or the RX 6900 XT. But the Intel CPU faction is already represented.
