Ubisoft just won’t stop postponing Skull & Bones
Ubisoft’s pirate game Skull & Bones was originally announced at E3 in 2017. At the time, the title was supposed to be released in autumn 2018, and the gameplay shown was reminiscent of the ship battles from Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
Skull & Bones has been postponed again
In 2018, Skull & Bones received a first delay, with a new release period of 2019-2020, in 2019 Ubisoft realized that this assessment was a little too optimistic, which is why they scheduled Skull & Bones for the next financial year , which ended on March 31, 2021. Meanwhile, Ubisoft also announced a TV series about the game.
There have been some rumors surrounding development restarts in the pirate game. The company also had to deal with various allegations of sexual harassment and the like, just like Blizzard. However, development on Skull & Bones should reportedly be going well after the title was postponed yet again, this time to fiscal year 2023, which ends March 31, 2023. After all the years and delays, players were then given a proper release date of November 8th, 2022, and the price tag of €70 was also revealed.

While the game’s developers weren’t quite as optimistic about Skull & Bones, and despite the announced release date, the title was still pretty much unfinished, Ubisoft shared more and more information about their upcoming game. For example, the game’s story shouldn’t be too important, we finally got real gameplay for the title, and there should also be free content for several years. It really seemed like Skull & Bones would indeed be released very soon, but only a few hours ago Ubisoft announced another delay for their pirate game. The game is said to be in development, but the delay will help the studio put the finishing touches on the game.
Barring any further delay, Skull & Bones will now be released on March 9th, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna. Ubisoft+ subscribers can play the title right on day one at no additional cost.
