"The Valiant" focuses on class instead of quantity

With “The Valiant”, publisher THQ Nordic and the Hungarian developer Kite Games have announced an “action-heavy real-time strategy game with role-playing elements” that is intended to bring a breath of fresh air to the genre. The focus should therefore be on tactical skirmishes between smaller troop formations instead of battles between entire armies or base construction.

In The Valiant, as Theodoric von Akenburg, players will follow a “diverse story campaign through many unique scenarios” that will force them to make important decisions both on and off the battlefield, according to a statement. Before each mission, it is important to choose the right mix of troops, including the right skills and equipment, each with individual attributes and special skill options. “The Valiant” also promises two multiplayer modes: cooperative and competitive. Although the game’s campaign is designed as a pure single-player experience, up to three players can prove themselves against increasingly tough opponents, including challenging mini-bosses, in the Last Man Standing mode. If successful, experience points beckon for the hero played, which unlocks new skills. The PvP mode offers 1v1 and 2v2 scenarios in which fast and fierce battles are all about conquering control points and the expand their own armed forces. Being victorious unlocks cosmetic customization options to dress-up for battle. The Valiant is slated for release “soon” for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
