Out, out, auuuuuuuus, the World Cup is auuuus! Bowser is world champion!

Our villain world championship saved the tightest decision for the final. There it was a real Nintendo derby, because Mario’s adversary Bowser met the witch-king Ganondorf. And a truly bitter duel ensued, in which the two gave each other nothing from the start. On the contrary, even if Bowser was able to pull away a little at the beginning of the vote, Ganondorf caught up with him a little later.

And then it went head to head until the end of the voting, so that the final was almost completely even when the final whistle was blown. Bowser snatched the title by an incredibly narrow margin of just 21 (!) votes. The final end result:

  • Bowser (Mario) – 50%, 1251 votes
  • Ganondorf (Zelda) – 50%, 1230 votes

Bowser is your voted meanest bully ever

So Bowser won the race. The one who quickly emerged as one of the biggest favorites in the field of 48 participants and lived up to this reputation to the end. Certainly, the King of Toads had a certain popularity advantage with a soft spot for Princess Peach, but that didn’t necessarily have to be reflected in the results.

But he did, which suggests that for many of you, Bowser is the ultimate villain after all. Simply because it represents the final confrontation towards the end of the Mario games. Or is it his ability to get his hands on Princess Peach in ever new ways? Or does his fire breath, which is strangely enough seen far too rarely, make him such a nasty bully?

Maybe a bit of each of these reasons comes together, but in the end it’s Bowser’s triumph, even if many can’t really understand that due to his – shall we say – sparse character drawing compared to other villains.

But: Bowser is villain world champion 2022, the GamePro.de editorial team congratulates them from the bottom of their hearts and above all thanks you for your numerous votes!
