WoW top guild Echo celebrates and curses FF14 raid “Dragon War Fatal”
When talking about Echo, most of the time it’s about their performance in WoW’s raids. Whether in the current form or earlier under the Method banner – Scripe, Gingi, Rogerbrown and Co. are undoubtedly among the best WoW players ever. Now you might think that if you’re good at one MMORPG, you’re good at the other MMOs too. Echo’s past forays into playing through the previous raids in FF14 blindly (i.e. without any preparation or knowledge) showed that this is at least partially true. However, it cannot be translated completely one-to-one. This is shown by the current attempts by the guild in the FF14 Raid Dragon War Fatal.
Because there the boys have been fighting their way through the raid for almost two weeks and are far from having reached the end – while the top guilds of FF14 are long gone. Especially the length of the fight makes it difficult for them to create.
Drachenkrieg Fatal – more than 20 minutes of full concentration
In the Dragon War Fatal, a fight awaits the players that lasts twice as long as most encounters in WoW. Since mistakes still usually mean a wipe, the concentration must be kept high for an extremely long time. Even between the more than half a dozen different phases, there is hardly any rest.
The fact that the Echo raiders have such a hard time with the Dragon War Fatal doesn’t mean that they don’t enjoy it. On the contrary. Most reactions are very positive. Guild leader Scripe even wishes that similar fights should also be implemented in WoW. While other players joke about the extreme length and whether the developers just wanted to troll them with each new phase, they still call the fight super cool.
However, it should be mentioned that Echo in FF14 does not approach the matter with the same dedication and effort as they regularly do in WoW. While the World First Race in WoW is a very clear esports competition for them, they see the raids in FF14 much more relaxed and more as a fun pastime – just like most players generally do with all raids. This is already shown by the very manageable raid times that they spend in it and that are far from the 16 hours a day in WoW. And of course the fact that they go out without any preparation and put together their tactics “on the fly”.
Let’s see if Echo can still successfully complete the raid. They actually only wanted to spend 10 days there, but that has already expired. By the way, if you’re waiting for a comparison between the raids from WoW and FF14, we’ll have to disappoint you. According to the Echo raiders, the game mechanics are far too different to really compare. Have you already been in FFVIX’s Dragon War Fatal and would you confirm that such raids could also be good for WoW?
