XCOM is “definitely not dead,” assures the game’s director

Although the last entry in the XCOM mainline came out six years ago, XCOM Director Jake Solomon reminds fans not to write the franchise off just yet.

XCOM is not dead, nor is it napping

In an interview for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Solomon said opposite VGCthat the popular Fireaxis series will return. Maybe not right now, but someday.

“As long as I’m alive, as long as Firaxis is alive, XCOM will… I’m not even going to say it’s asleep right now. I’m going to say XCOM is definitely not dead,” Solomon said.

In 2020, Firaxis released the XCOM offshoot Chimera Squad for PC. XCOM 2 was released in 2016 for PC, consoles and mobile and is the latest installment in the main series. Even if a comeback is quite conceivable, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is getting the developers’ attention for the time being.

After all, fans can now calmly wait for a new sign of life from XCOM…
