Today, we are pleased to welcome Xbox fans to Rancho del Arroyo, the new desert preserve for immersive hunting game theHunter: Call of the Wild. This addition to the game brings new species of animals to hunt, biomes and landmarks to explore, an exciting century-old family mystery to unravel, and more.
But first, let’s take a closer look at the reserve. Rancho del Arroyo is inspired by the vast Sonoran desert of northern Mexico, one of the most biodiverse deserts in the world and home to a wide variety of animal species and unique ecosystems. Like our other reserves, the open world of Rancho del Arroyo spans 64 square kilometers (25 square miles), giving players the opportunity to explore and hunt in and around a wide variety of vibrant environments, such as desert scrub, dry grasslands, lush mountainous forests, and lakes high altitude. There are also many beautiful places and sights to discover, so don’t be afraid to go off the beaten track!
But putting aside the barren beauty, it’s time to take a tour of the animal species that roam the desert. On Rancho del ArroyoWe have added nine unique species of animals to the list, five of which are new to the game. For the first time, players will come face to face with the elusive Mexican Bobcat. This inconspicuous predator, known for its keen hearing and vision and distinctive black stripes of fur, is primarily active at night and will pose a tough challenge even to veteran hunters.
We’re also excited to finally introduce the Ring-necked Pheasant, along with an exciting new animal behavior called ‘redness’. By pushing a group of pheasants out into the open, players can now strategically lift them out of their hiding places and make them fly away (‘rinse‘), opening up to a new and hectic way of hunting. Of course, there are also many other species of animals for players to hunt in. Rancho del Arroyo, including Antelope Jackrabbit, Rio Grande Turkey, and Collared Peccary. White-tailed deer, mule deer, coyote and bighorn sheep are also welcome back.
Finally, when you’re done exploring for the day and wanting to tweak your equipment, be sure to try out the powerful new Couso Model 1897 16 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun.
