Action-Driven JRPG Tales of Arise Now Available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S

To celebrate the launch of Tales of Arise for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S today, we’d like to share some helpful tips and tricks to make you a battle expert in no time. On your journey with Alphen, Shionne and their friends, you will have to defeat many enemies and formidable bosses to change your future. Mastering the Tales of Arise combat system and knowing how to approach each encounter, you will start your journey strong.

# 1 – For most playable characters, consider the distance between you and your enemies to minimize the risk of damage in battle.

While some select characters have special defensive abilities that allow them to guard against strong enemy attacks, most playable characters can only evade. To avoid taking too much damage in combat, remember to create a strategic distance between you and your opponent.

# 2 – Use counter-cutting actions to help your boost attack gauge fill up faster.

Does your boost attack gauge seem low in the middle of battle? In addition to successful attacks, try to perform a perfect dodge or a perfect guard to trigger a counter-cutting action!

If your character manages to successfully perform a perfect dodge or a perfect guard, you will have the option to initiate a counterattack, an immediate counterattack that gives you the opportunity to extend the reaction in an attack combo. One advantage of the counter perk is that it helps fill up your boost attack gauge more quickly.

# 3 – Break through enemy defenses with normal attacks, then deal serious damage with a series of Arts attacks.

Featured in previous Stories of normal games, arts and attacks are a key part of the Tales of Arise combat game. You can perform a normal attack, then an art, then an arcane art!

However, enemy defenses will put up some resistance and will not be easily broken. We recommend weakening enemies first with a series of normal attacks. Then after breaking through their defenses and causing them to stagger, enemies are left completely vulnerable, which is the perfect time to continue your combo and perform stronger actions like martial arts and arcane arts for more devastating effects.

As you continue your adventure and become even stronger, you will increase your range of normal attacks by gaining new abilities with skill points (SP).

# 4 – Strategically use AG consuming arts in combination with normal attacks to balance your resources and recovery rates during battle.

Every time you want to use an art in combat, you will need to consume part of your art meter (AG). Since your AG can be recovered during battle, you must carefully manage your resources by alternating between normal attacks and gear for an action-focused flow as you fight your enemy.

There are different types of gear you can choose from, which have different levels of resource consumption. For a more impactful art attack that deals more damage, consider using an arcane art. However, arcane arts cost more AG than martial arts, so be sure to use them at the right time! Remember: the art gauge will refresh more slowly during an attack.
