Final day of the amateurs 2022: the date has been set

Regional division VfB Lübeck and upper division TSB Flensburg are contesting the final of the Schleswig-Holstein State Cup (SHFV Lotto Cup), which has been certain since VfB’s 5: 2 nV against Heider SV. When the endgame rises and where – those were two great secrets. One of them can now be revealed exclusively: According to information from LN, the DFB has signaled to its national associations that the “Amateurs final day”, on which all 21 national cup winners in Germany will be determined, will take place on May 21, 2022. It is the same day that the DFB Cup final will take place in Berlin in 2022.

The “Amateurs Final Day” is being held for the seventh time by the DFB in 2022, and all games will be broadcast live (in conference) in several tranches by ARD. After only 13 of the finals could take place on the “final day” due to the pandemic in 2021 (the SHFV final Phönix versus Weiche, 1: 2 nV, was not played until June 27, 21), the full program is to be run again in 2022, with all 21 regional Duels. These take place throughout the day before the big DFB Cup finals traditionally kick off at 8 p.m. in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Amateurs final day in Malente, Lübeck or Flensburg?

The question remains where the SHFV’s national cup final will take place on May 21, 2022. In the last 20 years there have already been ten different final locations, most recently twice in the Uwe Seeler Football Park in Malente. Both the Lohmühle with its perfect infrastructure and Flensburg come into question as final locations. Television, which will report live and would like to have the best possible conditions, could also have a say. The procedure is now as follows: The gaming committee makes a proposal to the executive board of the SHFV, which then discusses and makes a decision.

The winner of the state cup is then qualified for the first main round in the DFB Cup (endowed with around 130,000 euros), in which he will have a home game against a national or second division team. The first round in the DFB-Pokal will for the first time take place in two stages according to a reform – to offer TV better opportunities. The game round is split between July 29th and August 1st and Tuesday / Wednesday, 30./31. August.
