The 23rd LOTTO Masters planned for January 8, 2022 has been postponed. LOTTO Schleswig-Holstein, Holstein Kiel Marketing GmbH and the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association (SHFV) agreed on this on Tuesday. The reason for the postponement is the renewed increase in the number of infections related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 23rd Masters should be rescheduled on January 7, 2023 with the same field of participants. Tickets purchased for the Masters 2022 will also remain valid for the planned event in 2023. Several tournaments in Lübeck had already been canceled.

“The current situation around the corona pandemic is currently gaining momentum again, so that with a heavy heart we have to refrain from hosting our popular indoor event again. In these times, we must continue to do our part to contain the virus. Hosting the tournament with around 9,000 spectators would be the wrong signal at the moment, ”explains Uwe Döring, President of the SHFV. Klaus Kuhn, Managing Director of Holstein Kiel Marketing GmbH and organizer of the LOTTO Masters adds: “In these times, reason and responsibility are paramount. Given the given circumstances and with a view to the experts’ forecasts, it would not be justifiable to host the Masters at the beginning of the coming year. We are all the more looking forward to making up for the 23rd LOTTO Masters in January 2023. “
