Horizon Forbidden West: Guerilla Games introduces new features and the “crowd system”

In just under three months, on February 18, 2022, you and Aloy are expected to explore the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon Forbidden West (from 69,98€ at pre-order). In order to bridge the waiting time, the developers of Guerilla Games are providing fans with new and exciting details about the soon-to-be-released action adventure.

It was already known that Aloy had to face many new challenges in the second part of Horizon. Your robot opponents will become more dangerous and new features will be added. She will meet well-known artificial animals, but also have to deal with as yet completely unknown opponents. So that Aloy can defend herself against her, she too is equipped with new skills and weapons. Among other things, she will be able to swim underwater in Horizon Forbidden West.

In the newest Playstation Blogpost the tribes and settlements that Aloy will encounter in the game have now been highlighted. Because in addition to destroying robot animals, the focus in Forbidden West is just like its predecessor on the role-playing elements and exploring the open world.

Aloy will meet and develop a relationship with many different tribes on her new journey. This time the developers have made sure to give each tribe its own “personality”. They presented three tribes as examples: the Tenakth, a believing, combative tribe. The Oseram, who are impetuous and sly. And the Utaru, who are representatives of a relaxed farming society. The NPCs behave according to their tribal affiliation.

Every incapacitated NPC will be part of a crowd system in Horizon Forbidden West. The developers can create rules such as reactions, routes and other animations within this system. In addition, there is a behavior system that determines personality. Thus, unique people can be created who behave like individuals in the world.
The dealers in Horizon Forbidden West are now just as individual as the personalities: Depending on the dealer, Aloy will find goods that are specially tailored to the tribe. For example, an Oseram dealer will sell her weapons that are suitable for hunting, while a Tanekth dealer will sell her weapons for combat.

Guerlilla also introduced the “Chainscrape” settlement, which players will encounter first. It is an Oseram outpost and a trading center with many quest options.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 18, 2022.
