Halo Infinite: Dataminers find alternative weapon variants and show them in the video

In Halo Infinite we can find alternative versions of well-known weapons.

Dataminers have in the code of Halo Infinite discovered a feature that we already know from the predecessor Halo 5: Guardians. These are different variants of known weapons that are equipped with changed stats or certain additional functions. We will briefly explain to you what is probably behind the find.

Special weapons in Halo Infinite

This is how weapon variants work: In Halo 5 we were able to find special weapons that basically look and work like the regular guns in the game, but have one or more special abilities. Usually there is a boost for a stat and in return a penalty in another category. Thus, these weapon variants encourage other play styles.

An example: You can find a sniper rifle that is less accurate than the normal version, but shoots faster and has a larger magazine. This also makes the weapon useful for mid-range firefights. However, it is no longer suitable for very long distances.

In total, the data miners were able to find five such weapon variants in the Halo Infinite code and even try them out. In the video you can see how these work (via Reddit):

And here is a list of the special weapons shown:

  • Convergence Bulldog (larger magazine, less distribution)
  • MA40 (AR) Longshot (smaller magazine, larger zoom)
  • S7 (Sniper) Flexfire (larger magazine, faster rate of fire, poorer accuracy)
  • BR75 (Pulse Carbine) Breacher (Faster rate of fire)
  • Volatile Skewer (bullets explode shortly after impact)

Not clear for which mode: It’s not officially confirmed yet, but the special weapons will probably not be featured in multiplayer. Instead, we will probably get the weapon variants in the campaign when we defeat mini bosses.

The popular shooter series revolving around the Master Chief appears bit by bit. The Free2Play multiplayer has been available since mid-November. The campaign will follow on December 8th. However, you can only contest this on your own for the time being. The co-op mode will follow – just like Forge – sometime in the coming year.
