Ratzeburg Advent Run: Simon Müller wins ahead of Jonas Weller

Of course, she deserved better weather for her debut at the Ratzeburg Advent run. Tabea Themann from Hamburg (TB Eilbeck) was just as unimpressed by the cold, wet 4 degrees as by the difficult, sometimes rather soggy, 26-kilometer running route around the Ratzeburg lake. Eie celebrated a safe victory in a time of 1:46:06 hours, ahead of Fenna Fröhlich (LAC Lübeck), who came second in a time of 1:48:19. The podium was completed in 1:54:17 by Cindy Altmann from “Open Sports” in Hamburg.

Simon Müller before Jonas Weller

In the men’s 26-kilometer race, there was the expected duel between Simon Müller from Tri-Sport Lübeck and local hero Jonas Weller from the Ratzeburg SV Triathlon. With a lead of almost a minute, Simon Müller finished with 1:27:58, followed closely by Jonas Weller in 1:28:52. Monier Rauter from SG Stern Hamburg celebrated third place on the podium in 1:34:28. For him it was the second start in Ratzeburg. After Simon Müller and Jonas Weller took a short breath and “clapped” each other (we know each other well), the two reported about a really demanding run. The route was partly soft and muddy, which all participants could see on the mud residue on their feet and legs (partly down to their upper body).

Next goal Ironman

When asked about their further plans, the two told the moderator Peter Poppe that they are still training very actively in triathlon and would like to contest the Ironman in Hawaii together in 2022. The joint coach of the two will do his part to ensure that this can work.

Jule happy happy at the finish

There were also remarkably good finish times on the 9.8 kilometer distance around Küchensee. In the women’s category, Jule Fröhlich from Oldenburg won 39:37 minutes ahead of Maria Heinrich from SV 1885 Teutschenthal in 39:59. Just behind in 40:34, Solveig Stoltenberg crossed the finish line at the Kurpark.

Flourfield from Ratzeburg to Valencia

Leif Gunkel from SC Fretter (Sauerland) won the men’s race over the 9.8 kilometers in 32:22 ahead of Miguel Molero-Eichwein from Spiridon Schleswig. Dennis Mehlfeld – a good friend in Ratzeburg – came in third. He could finish in 33:56. Since he was a father last year, Mehlfeld has to clock his running activities a little differently and was not at the start for the long distance. He is focused on the Valencia marathon that will take place next weekend.

Jarle Golecki fastest runner for the spittoon

14-year-old Greta Amort from MTV Lübeck was able to assert herself over the competition in a time of 23:13 minutes on the 5.6-kilometer route around the small Küchensee (Spucknapf). Jette Heer from RST Lübeck crossed the finish line in 24:05. Emma Braun from TSV Bargteheide-Tri completed the three-point ranking (24:30) as third in the league on the podium.

In the men’s 5.6 short distance, Jarle Golecki from SV Rethwisch won in 19:11 ahead of Florian Deecke from Lübeck (19:30) and Moritz Kast (20:17). He starts for the Tri Sport in Schwerin.

Lots of helpers at the start

A brilliant presenter Peter Poppe led through a great event this year after the Advent run in 2020 was canceled due to the corona. The organizing Ratzeburg sports club and the organizational team around Erich Clemens as well as many volunteers from the Red Cross, the DLRG and those around the club had their hands full to make the event possible this year.

Exemplary implementation of the hygiene concept

In addition to the precautionary measures and the hygiene concept, the active cooperation of all athletes was also relied on. And they have implemented the requirements in terms of distance, mask compulsory up to the starting gun and before and after the run. The triathlon department of the Ratzeburg sports club hopes that the Advent run in 2022 can hopefully take place under more relaxed conditions.

All the results are there here.
