Fortnite bans controversial “Nazi skin” from the shop – players want it back

In Fortnite, many skins have made it over the counter in the item shop. However, some of them were so controversial that Epic Games wordlessly put them in the vault. We’ll show you a skin that is controversial, but still wanted by many players.

What does “vaulted” mean? In gamer language, the term is used to describe the fact that certain things are packed into a digital safe. This can be weapons, surroundings, objects but also skins, as in this case.

The content is removed from the game or from the shop, but not completely deleted. There is a chance content will return from the Vault – or it will stay in it forever.

Especially the online shooters Fortnite and Destiny 2 rely on such a “content vault.”

Rue-Skin is controversial – players still demand it

What kind of skin is that? This skin is called “Rue”. The figure that the skin shows comes from the agent organization “Shadow” and is one of the villains in Chapter 2 Season 2.

She has two styles in red and black.

A diabolical skin that is out for revenge

The female skin wears a leather, latex coat with long black gloves, black boots and devilish red glasses with two points. Your coat is decorated with the organization’s logo, which is on the upper arm.

The skin was last in the Fortnite item shop 544 days ago.

What is so controversial about the skin? Players tweeted on Epic Games’ April 2020 post (via. Twitter) that this skin reminds you a lot of a Nazi. Apparently, some players see striking parallels in the aesthetics of the Fortnite skin with officer uniforms of the SS.

Anyone who knows Epic Games knows that items, dances or skins that have caused problems are indirectly pushed into the vault so that they can no longer see the light of the Fortnite world.

Epic Games has not yet commented on this. Nevertheless, players rumored that Fortnite does this with some items that are somewhat controversial or even frowned upon and could cause problems.

What do players say about it? There is a post on reddit that makes fun of the fact that the developers make an effort to create items only so that they perish in the vault 2 years later. It becomes clear that many players are demanding this skin, despite its controversial appearance. A reddit user writes:

It didn’t help that when the skin was released people were spamming all over the internet that she looked like a Nazi officer. I’m not saying that’s why she was vaulted, but still … In this day and age it’s pretty easy to get ‘canceled’ for any reason.

Another user on reddit also writes:

[…] but no matter how you put it, having a “Nazi” as a playable character makes the game look questionable.

Epic probably didn’t assume that this skin would have such an impact on the community. It should be clear that the developers of Fortnite want to create a good environment to be able to gamble with friends and not to glorify such fascist content.

What do you think of the skin? Do you think it’s cool or do you yourself say that such a skin doesn’t deserve a place in Fortnite? Let us know in the comments!
