In a recent investor meeting, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski spoke to some investors about the financial results for the third quarter of 2021. In a question round After the presentation, the investors were able to ask some questions of interest relating to the current and upcoming projects. In doing so, Kicinski allowed himself an interesting detail Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 4 elicit.

Multiplayer elements for Cyberpunk and The Witcher franchises

Why is? Kicinski stated that CD Projekt Red plans to introduce some multiplayer elements for both the Cyberpunk and The Witcher franchises. So it is not intended to be a stand-alone multiplayer game, but rather features that are to be implemented in the games step-by-step:

We’re not going to reveal which franchise will get the first multiplayer features, but the first try will be something we can learn from, then add more, so step by step we open the doors to multiplayer and follow up on some multiplayer activity and want to add after.

So we can be curious when the first attempts with multiplayer elements will be dared. Unfortunately, the statement does not make it clear which game or which expansion will shine with first multiplayer experiences. Conversely, that means that the games will essentially remain a single-player experience.

The GamePro team asked CD Projekt Red directly about the multiplayer elements in Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 4. As soon as we get a response, we will update this post for you.

What else Adam Kicinski has revealed recently about Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, you can read on GamePro:

That brings the future for CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red announced one last year Standalone-Multiplayertitel for Cyberpunk 2077. Due to the technical problems of the game at the launch, all employees had to be used to fix the bugs, so the multiplayer game was put on hold.

The focus should now be on bug fixing on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 anyway. While the games for the new console generation for Cyberpunk 2077 have been dated to Q1 2022, The Witcher 3 fans will have to wait until Q2 2022. Only then can the team devote themselves to other projects.

In addition to these projects, CD Projekt Red of course has other titles from the The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 universe up its sleeve. You can find out which titles the company is currently working on in our GamePro overview read up.
