The Witcher Season 2: Geralt should grunt less and speak more

In the Netflix series The Witcher, Geralt von Rivia (Henry Cavill) is extremely taciturn. Often we only hear one species “Hrmpf” and “Fuck” by him. But that should change with the second season, which will be launched soon. In it, the witcher speaks a lot more, grunts and grumbles less. In general, he should also open up more, appear more intellectual and have to deal with his role as a father and his relationships with other people.

Season 2 is coming soon! It won’t be long now: On December 17th, Netflix will release the second season of The Witcher series. After the surprise success, fans waited almost exactly two years for the sequel and now the story of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer and Co … finally continues. But a lot has changed. Watch a trailer here:

Less grunts: In the first season Geralt uttered one thing in particular – a grunted “Hrmpf”. While this fits almost all occasions, it doesn’t necessarily make the witcher look like a real intellectual. Which it actually really is now. In season 2 we should finally notice more of the fact that we are dealing with a scholar who is over 70 years old.

In an interview with SFX magazine (via: GamesRadar) actor Henry Cavill explains that he tried to make Geralt grunt and curse less. In season 2 he should use a significantly expanded vocabulary, not use swear words as often and speak a lot more. The witcher actor worked hard on that.

For this season I really wanted to push to make sure he was more verbose. There’s always the risk that a character will get a bit clichéd and just funny if we let them grunt and say the F-word.

That would simply not do justice to Andrzej Sapkowski’s proposal. That’s why we can expect a witcher who has more to say.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is in the same direction. She puts the focus on the changes that Geralt goes through in the second season. While in the first season he still believes that he doesn’t need any other people, in season 2 he is suddenly confronted with Ciri and other connections that demand empathy and warmth from him.

More about the Netflix series:

Netflix brings the second season of The Witcher series to its own streaming program on December 17th. But of course there are still the games: For example, many are waiting for the next or, in the meantime, current gen version of The Witcher 3, which will appear sometime in early 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series S / X. Recently there were indications that The Witcher 4 should possibly get multiplayer elements, just like Cyberpunk 2077.

How do you find a new, talkative, and more intellectual Geralt from Rivia on the Netflix series?
