Hearthstone: For this card you have to lose up to 720 times

A new grind has started in Hearthstone. You have to play a lot for that – you need up to 720 defeats for one card.

Although the expansion “Split in the Alterctal” is still a few days away, you can already start to complete the long – and extremely extensive – quest line. That is also advisable, because in the worst case you have to collect a whopping 720 defeats in order to get all the rewards.

What happened? Actually, the quest series around “Split in Alterac Valley” should only start with the launch of the expansion on December 7th. But the latest hotfix has already activated the quest line so that all players can already work on earning the necessary honor.

How do you earn honor? You get honor in different modes after you have chosen the Horde or Alliance. This request comes automatically when starting the game and is decided by whether you choose Vanndar (Alliance) or Drek’thar (Horde) as your card.

You will then receive honor for each completed game in these game modes:

  • Traditional Hearthstone
  • Arena
  • Duels

How much honor is there That depends on how well you do in the games and against which enemies you stand up. Basically:

  • Each game gives 10 honor – even if you lose
  • A win gives an additional 10 honor (20 total)
  • A victory against an enemy of the other faction gives an additional 20 honor (40 total)

In the best case scenario, you will get 40 honor per match if you win against a player from the hostile faction.

How Much Honor is Required? That basically depends on what rewards you want to earn. However, if you want to dust off all the rewards, you have to collect the proud amount of 7,200 honor.

In the worst case, that means that you have to lose a whopping 720 games to unlock the final map of the quest series. In the best-case scenario, you would only have to win 180 games if you always play against a player who has chosen the other faction, without exception.

Since it is extremely unlikely to win 180 games that are also played every time against the enemy faction or to lose 720 games in a row, the result will ultimately be somewhere in the middle.

What are the rewards? There are a total of 13 golden cards (via playhearthstone.com) that can be earned through the Honor quest line. The first card is already available after 40 honor, but the amount increases rapidly. The highlight, however, are the final cards, for which a total of 7,200 honor must be collected. Alliance players receive a golden Drek’Thar, Horde supporters the golden Vanndar Stormpike. So in each case the card that you spurned at the start of the event.

The quest series will, however, remain until the end of the expansion, i.e. for almost four months. Basically, it is a “second reward path” in which the players can earn even more cards than with the usual reward path that is available with every expansion.

However, one should not underestimate the grind for this task. If you want to distribute the task load over the whole 120 days of the expansion, you have to complete between 1.5 and 6 matches per day. Quite a lot for a game that is often only played “on the side”.

Are you going to grind so much honor? Or is this quest line a number too grind-heavy to really want to tackle it?
