Should Battlefield 2042 remove the specialists and bring back the old classes?

Since the specialists’ first announcement, before the release of Battlefield 2042, they have been criticized. Many fans want the old classes from previous offshoots back. We at MeinMMO want to know from you: Should they be removed and replaced? Take part in our survey.

What’s the problem with the specialists? The criticism of the specialists is manifold. For example, it is often mentioned that they reduce the immersion of the military shooter instead of increasing it.

The previous classes all had their own specific roles and felt more realistic than the new system for many Battlefield players.

• For many, the principle of Battlefield is to plunge into battle as one of many “normal” soldiers and not to impersonate any special character.
• Because each class also had its own gadgets and weapons, you could put yourself even more into the role that a soldier would like to play there. The new specialists prevent this because they offer too much freedom.
• Some also criticize the fact that the specialists actually only have a right to exist in the hazard zone mode and are supposed to boost skin sales in order to earn additional money.
• Already in the beta the appearance of the specialists was made fun of, as they look identical across all factions.
• Even the new types of gadgets used by many specialists have nothing to do with Battlefield for some veterans.

Now there are more and more players who want their old classes back and would prefer to do without specialists. (via reddit)

How exactly do the specialists work? Basically, there is still the well-known class division in Battlefield 2042. However, there are some extensive changes and significantly fewer restrictions on your weapons.

For example, despite being a sniper specialist, you can carry an LMG and a rocket launcher with you. Nevertheless, there is still a rough division into classes, only that there are now several specialists for each of these categories.

• Assault soldier – Mobile soldier for the front
• Utilities – support unit, also paramedics
• Pioneer – responsible for the gross equipment
• Scouts – Scout out or disrupt enemies

However, each of the specialists has their own gadget and design. This makes them stand out from one another and should have their own identity. In addition, every specialist has a background story. So they should feel like their own people.
