Why you should pay attention to Intel if you want cheap gaming PCs in 2022

AMD is currently considered a tip for many gaming PCs. But for 2022, Intel could become the insider tip for many gamers – because a leak shows new Intel processors in the entry-level segment.

Intel’s i3 processors are aimed at beginners who do not want to spend a lot of money. But so far it was well worth it to spend around 30 euros more. Because for 150 euros you can get an i5-10400F, with which you get Intel’s currently best processor in the mid-range. In the mid-range segment, AMD in particular dominates the market with its processors.

It has now become known: But that could change now if the rumors are true. Because in the meantime a first review of Intel’s latest budget processor is said to have been leaked. At least that’s what PCGamer magazine reports (via pcgamer.com) and refers to a Chinese article in his article.

If the leak is correct, we could expect a fast processor for little money in the entry-level area.

Entry-level area could get a significant performance boost

What’s the big surprise? Above all, the fact that the new i3-12100 should be able to hyperthreading should surprise many users. Because hyperthreading was always withheld from cheap processors.

Hyperthreading means that a microprocessor works like two logical cores and can therefore process more than one thread at the same time. That means a decent performance boost. The latest processor from Intel should now also receive this performance boost.

Otherwise, the i2-12100 should also be a fast entry-level processor:

  • The processor should offer 4 cores with 8 threads
  • There is also a 12MB L3 cache, which is primarily responsible for the fast transfer of data.
  • In addition, the processor should have a TDP of 60 watts. This means that you don’t need a high-end cooler for the processor, but a cheap cooler is completely sufficient.
  • In addition, the processor should offer a graphics chip. Intel’s Xe Graphics is at least enough to play some games in low resolution.

Intel hadn’t released any inexpensive processors in the past few months and mostly fought with AMD in the middle class for first place. In the price range between 150 and 200 euros, the Ryzen 5 3600 and i5 10400F dominate, and the i5er from Intel is even a few euros cheaper.

Intel could offer a strong entry-level alternative from 2022

With the i3-12100, Intel could now bring a successful alternative to the market for all those for whom 170 euros for a processor are still too expensive, but still do not want to forego performance.

When is the release of the i3-12100? According to rumors, the i3-12100 will hit the market with affordable motherboards in the first quarter of 2022. The price is not known, the previous entry-level processor, the i3-10100, currently costs around 130 euros. We assume that the latest CPU should hit the market for a similar price.

Very few gamers are currently willing to spend several hundred euros for a high-end processor. The YouTuber “Linus Tech Tips” has now taken a close look at how good the two high-end CPUs from Intel and AMD are. You can also find an article on this on MeinMMO:
