Pokémon GO brings Johto Tour in 2022 – that’s what the trainers hope for from the event
A very special event is to take place in Pokémon GO in February 2022: The Johto Tour. Nothing is known about the event yet, but the community is already speculating about possible content on social networks. We at MeinMMO show you what the trainers want.
What kind of event is it about? As Niantic announced on the Pokémon GO blog, there will be a Johto tour at the end of February (via pokemongolive.com). This should form the spectacular conclusion to the current season – the season of origin.
Now the PokeMiners, a group of Dataminers, have found the first clues about this event, which they shared on Twitter. Accordingly, the texts for the start and end times were stored in the game code and a new picture was added. This causes initial speculation in the community.
What is known about the Johto Tour 2022?
So far, Niantic has been very reluctant to provide official information about the Johto Tour. It is only known that this will take place on February 26th and 27th, 2022 and is intended as the grand finale of the season. In addition, a paid event ticket is required to participate, but this includes the limited research in January and February.
As can be seen from the PokeMiners’ Twitter post, the information about the start and end of the Johto tour and a corresponding picture have now been stored in the game code.
In a further tweet, they then also provide the corresponding found texts. Accordingly, the following text was stored in the source code: “A ticket for access to the Pokémon GO Tour: Johto on February 26, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, no matter where you are.” (via twitter.com).

The information about the Johto tour is now causing initial speculation in the community. Numerous trainers express their wishes for the event on Twitter and reddit.
Release of missing Shinys
One of the most frequently mentioned requests is the release of the missing Shinys from the Johto region. Some trainers are already looking forward to one or the other copy. Ace Br3ak writes on Twitter: “Finally dazzling Mantax and Corasonn.” (via twitter.com).
The user standapokeman asks directly on reddit which Shinys from Johto are still missing (via reddit.com). In the comments, the user is referred to another post in which this question has already been answered.
According to Revrush, the following Pokémon are currently missing in the Johto region:
- Hoothoot and Noctuh,
- Hoppspross, Hubelupf and Papungha
- Giraffe
- Schneckmag and Magcargo
- Rabautz and Kapoera
- Phanpy and Donphan
- Remoraid und Octillery,
- Mantax
- of the regional Pokémon Corasonn
Pokémon Regional
Corasonn: Apart from the fact that many trainers hope for the dazzling version of Corasonn, this monster is a regional Pokémon. It is therefore usually not available in Germany. For this reason, some players would like to be able to catch Corasonn during the Johto event.
EasyHoney641 therefore asks on reddit: “Is Corasonn coming for everyone?” (via reddit.com). Dracarys1988 is convinced that it will then be caught in raids (via reddit.com).
And graham also replied to a joyful post about Corasonn on Twitter: “Yes, and I hope you save them [Raid]-Passes, because Niantic will most likely use them in raids as it is regionally exclusive. ” (via twitter.com).
Skaraborn: Another regional Pokémon is scaraborn. This also belongs to the Johto region and can normally only be caught in Latin America. Also with this monster one or the other player hopes to be able to catch it during the event (via twitter.com).
Further wishes and assumptions about the Johto tour
But the Shinys and regional Pokémon are not the only wishes of the trainers. Amzorcen is hoping for new mega developments and writes on Twitter: “Mega-Johto-Monster ?? God I hope ”(via twitter.com). And also reptilez speculates on a mega-despotary (via twitter.com). GymDefender, in turn, hopes it will become mega scaraborn (via reddit.com).
On the other hand, GanzSicher suspects special icognito that result in the word Johto: “We will probably get icognito of the letters J, O, T and H. Just 2 new forms for me: / (J and H) ”(via twitter.com).
How realistic are the wishes and assumptions?
There was a similar event in Pokémon GO as early as 2021. The focus here was on the Kanto region. With this event, the rest of the region’s Shinys came into play, which you can meet since then. This suggests that Niantic has planned a similar approach this year.
And regional Pokémon could also be found all over the world on the two days of the event, because Pokémon GO made this possible at other events. However, these were mainly to be caught in raids.
However, it is still completely unclear whether Niantic will choose a special Johto Pokémon for the mega raid. To equip all types with a mega development, a rock Pokémon would be missing. So that could speak for a mega-despotary. However, there are other options from other regions that Pokémon GO could use for a Mega Rock Pokémon, such as Aerodactyl.
