Battlefield 2042: New Update 3.1 comes tomorrow – weapons should finally hit reliably

When exactly is the 3.1 update coming? Tomorrow, on December 9th, the next big patch for Battlefield 2042 should go online. The update should go online at 9:00 a.m., there is no server down.

What’s in it? Update 3.1 addresses some of the many problems the game has had since its release. One of the most serious is likely to be the incorrect registration of hits, in which you were often unable to cause any damage to your opponents despite clear hits.

There are also a few other adjustments:

  • Balance changes to projectile dispersion and recoil
  • Other balancing changes to the 30, 40 and 57 mm cannons of ground vehicles to reduce their effectiveness against infantry
  • A fix for a rare bug that could make the end of the game invisible to opponents
  • Fixes for various bugs related to grenades and launchers

Battlefield expert and YouTuber Jackfrags had already analyzed the topic and tested the possible causes.

What caused the problem? JackFrags could only speculate about the causes here. He suspected that it might have something to do with the number of players in a small space. He also considers smoke effects to be a potential culprit.

But he excludes the internet connection: Not only does he have a very low ping – the match takes place against bots, which is why there should be no fluctuations caused by other players.

However, the developers reacted to his video and even said that it could be solved. Unfortunately, this was not the case with Update 3, which was not well received by the community. Now this has apparently been achieved with Update 3.1.

The balance changes to the recoil and the projectile dispersion could also help that you can finally hit your opponents reliably. Whether that really happens remains to be seen until the update is on the servers.

Audio

  • Various changes to the overall audio experience improve clarity, distance, and directional awareness
  • Fixed an issue where Soldier: Indoors indoors would not always have the correct footstep sounds

  • Removed ricochet when firing underflow grenades at close range
  • 40mm AP shells now properly damage vehicles
  • Fixed incorrect ammunition display for certain magazines for some weapons
  • The animation when reloading the cylinder lock rifle DXR-1 and NTW-50 has been extended by 0.2 seconds
  • The dispersion values ​​of most weapons have been adjusted so that they decrease faster with quick single shots and short volleys

Gadgets

Splittergranate

  • The time until a frag grenade detonates after the first ricochet in a hard collision has been increased from 1.1 seconds to 1.4 seconds
  • Frag grenades cause 120 damage in all game modes and guarantee a kill even with armored game ends
  • Maximum ammunition for fragmentation and incendiary grenades reduced from 2 to 1

Environmental sensor

  • Sighting radius reduced from 30 to 20 yards
  • Operating time reduced from 30 seconds to 14 seconds
  • The end of the game can only wear and use one environmental sensor (previously 2)

Battlefield Hazard Zone

  • Fixed an issue where the Occupation Forces patrolling LATV4 Recon spawned at the wrong time or not at all

breakthrough

  • Kaleidoscope – Roof Capture Objective has been removed. There are now two Conquest Objectives down in BT (large) and one down in BT (small)
  • Orbital – Roof Capture Target has been removed. There is now a conquest target below in BT (large) and in BT (small)

Soldier

  • Improvements when colliding with objects when moving backwards in the prone position
  • Fixed a rare issue where the end of the game could become invisible when spawning in a full / destroyed vehicle

So the update mainly takes care of balancing. Apart from the hit feedback, only a few bugs and problems are likely to be fixed.

It looks like problems like the performance on the PC, faulty animations in the helicopter intro and the revivals will not be fixed in this update.

Many players will also be unhappy that the scoreboard has not been improved. Things like capture points in breakthrough, which are heavily criticized by players for their impregnable position, will probably remain untouched.

It is not currently known what will change in the future. An insider report recently revealed how chaotic the development of Battlefield 2042 was. But the focus of DICE is now to gradually eliminate the numerous problems of the game. It remains to be seen whether this will succeed.
