New MMORPG for Warhammer announced – If a PvE game, will appear in German

Warhammer Online (cover picture) was supposed to confront the genre giant WoW in 2008, but the MMORPG was discontinued on December 18, 2013. Since then, fans of the franchise have been waiting for a new MMORPG. Now the company Nexon announced that it has got the rights to a new Warhammer game. This is supposed to be a multiplayer game with a focus on PvE.

What kind of game is this going to be? Warhammer: Age of Sigmar is being developed by the South Korean developer Nexon and Games Workshop, a British company. The goal of the two companies is to bring Warhammer into a “new, virtual world on PC, consoles and mobile platforms” (via Businesswire).

The description of the game in the official press release sounds a bit like a mixture of MMORPG and the Chinese role-playing game Genshin Impact:

• The new Warhammer game is supposed to be a service game with regular updates
• They state “PvE Multiplayer RPG” as the genre
• It’s supposed to have a lot of social features
• Players should be able to collect characters and fight with them over the course of each season
• Each character has a unique story and gameplay
• The characters should be visually adaptable
• The focus of the story is the fight against the followers of the Chaos Gods

When does the game come out? Information on a release date is not yet available. However, Warhammer Age of Sigmar will appear globally and will also be translated into English and German.

However, further details have not yet been shared. There are also no pictures or video material yet.

Who is behind the game? The Nexon company is known for the development and distribution of MMOs and MMORPGs. You have developed Maple Story, Vindictus, Dragon Nest and Dungeon Fighter Online yourself and are the publisher of games such as Elsword and Antlantica Online in Korea.
