The Last of Us HBO series always has new surprises in store for us – and that already during the shoot. For example, we have already learned that the adaptation has at least one completely new character in store for us, now we’ve received news of an unexpected line-up change. Actually, the odd Bill, an old business partner of Joel, should be filled with Con O’Neill. But now another actor steps in. We’ll tell you what’s going on.

This is the new actor from Bill

It’s all about this: The series adaptation for The Last of Us is currently in the shooting phase. So it comes as a surprise that a change has now been made to the cast. It’s the role of Bill. This is an old friend of Joel’s in the game, with whom he has done business before. Joel and Ellie go to Bill and ask him, in return for an old favor, to screw together a working car.

Promising line-up change: Bill’s role was actually occupied by Con O’Neill, whom we know from the Chernobyl series. But now Nick Offerman steps in instead, as Naughty Dog announced in an official tweet. On the comparison pictures that are attached to the post, it is immediately noticeable that Offerman is optically a better match for Bill than O’Neill.

But that’s not the only thing that makes Offerman an interesting choice for the role. The actor is known for his impersonation of Ron Swanson in the comedy series Parks & Recreation and there is a parallel to Bill in the director of the Green Space Office: He renounces personal contact with his fellow human beings. Just like Bill, who had bad experiences as a loner.

More about the series:

Reason for the replacement

So if Offerman seems like the better choice for the role, it was like fanbyte.com does not report the reason for the replacement, according to official statements. It simply had to do with conflicts in the schedule of the originally cast actor.

By the way, Bill’s appearance on the series will make an exciting difference to the game. He will be seen in scenes with his partner Frank, played by Murray Bartlett. The two no longer meet in the game, as Frank has already committed suicide when Bill goes to his retreat with Ellie and Joel.
