Many Halo fans around the world are currently firing their way through the Halo Infinite campaign, which has been available since December 8th. The Master Chief ends up in the Zeta Halo ring, on which he has to find out what the exiles under the leadership of Warchief Escharum are up to.

343 Industries said in the past that Halo Infinite is a service game and should exist for many years. So it is quite possible that in addition to the Free2Play multiplayer, the campaign could be expanded in the future. And that’s exactly what some speculate about after a trademark recently registered by Microsoft.

What exactly is it about? As on the Trademark Database page Justia reads, Microsoft has registered a trademark called “Halo: The Endless”. There are not many more details, only that the trademark refers to the areas of computer software, discs and digital media in general.

It is no coincidence that speculations about a connection with the Halo Infinite story – among other things under the tweet linked above – are not by chance. To explain that, we can’t avoid going into details on the story. Therefore follow from here SPOILER!

What the trademark could mean for Halo Infinite

In the course of the campaign, the Master Chief meets the Harbinger, who identifies herself as a representative of the Endless. This new species is said to be “even worse than the Flood”, making it potentially the greatest threat in the Halo Universe. However, the species was imprisoned on the ring, and apart from the Harbinger we do not see any specimen of the Endless.

The trademark implies that “Halo: The Endless” will deal with these endless ones in more detail. It could be a history, an additional series of missions, or something else. Since many details about the endless ones remain in the dark even after the campaign is over, a possible DLC could start right here and provide even more context and background.

Important NOTE: That The Endless is a DLC is pure speculation. A number of other forms of media – for example a short film, etc. are theoretically also possible, and a novel with this title, for example, cannot be ruled out. It is also possible that Microsoft has only secured the trademark, but will not use it in the foreseeable future.

Halo Infinite is available for the Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, and PC. You can find out all of the game’s strengths and weaknesses in our extensive Halo Infinite review.
