The big dragon event in Pokémon GO has very few dragons

A dragon event is currently running in Pokémon GO, but trainers are not aware of it. There are few dragon spawns in the wild, and the good ones hide in raids. This is how the community reacts to it.

What’s going on in Pokémon GO? The “Drachenstiegen Desstieg” event has been running in Pokémon GO since December 7th. Not only does it have a complicated name, the content is also not convincing. Tomorrow, December 12th, the event ends and the Trainers think this doesn’t feel like a kite event.

There are also problems at the start and hiding the “good” Pokémon in raids.

Spawns in the wild with Vulpix, Jurob and Voltilamm

That was announced: In the announcement of the event, Niantic writes which Pokémon should be more common in the wild (via pokemongolive.com). These are Vulpix, Jurob, Dratini, Voltilamm, Sniebel, Knacklion, Elezeba and Flampion. If you are lucky, you will also encounter Dragonir, Vibrava and Kapuno in the wilderness.

In addition, the new Pokémon Shardrago celebrates its debut in the game and has been available since the start of the event. Niantic writes that you can also find and catch the dazzling version of Shardrago if you are lucky enough. So the anticipation for the new Pokémon is accordingly.

These are the problems: In the wild, the non-dragon Pokémon are the most common. Everywhere you look you can see Vulpix, Jurob and Voltilamm. Dragon spawns like Vibrava and Knacklion exist, but are really rare. And whoever hopes to find one of the coveted Kapuno in the wild needs a lot of luck.

In the community reddit the problems become clear. There PplagiatT writes: “The kite event feels more like a spotlight hour from Vulpix”. He collected over 2,600 upvotes and 300 comments for his post. The user writes that around 40 to 50 percent of his spawns are Vulpix, while it is snowing outside. For PplagiatT it doesn’t make any sense at all: “Niantic, if you don’t want to give us dragons, at least give us the normal Ice and Steel Pokémon – it’s mid-December after all.”

  • Pokewatch104 writes “For me it’s a spotlight hour with Voltilamm”
  • LoStBoYjOhN writes: “I mainly see Vulpix, Jurob and Voltilamm. Every now and then I see Vibrava / Knacklion or a Dratini / Dragonir and much less often Sniebel. All other spawns in the wild are Parfi and Flampion. I don’t think I need anything other than Shinys and Kapuno, but the grind is now annoying. “

Player Level-Particular-455 explains: “I think the problem is that it is not a kite event. It was named after the place where you can first catch Shardragon and there aren’t many dragons there. However, it is understandable that the community is confused. “

Nevertheless, trainers were looking forward to the dragon Pokémon Kapuno and Shardrago, which are explicitly mentioned in the announcement. You can even meet the strong dragons through field research, according to the official announcement. If you then look up what kind of research that is, the joy immediately drops again.

The coveted dragons hide behind tasks such as “win a raid” or “win 3 raids”. Raids are linked to the use of raid passes, one of which you can get for free every day (and a remote raid pass once a week). Otherwise, the passes are available for purchase in the shop.

The YouTuber TrainerTips has become a star in the community thanks to Pokémon GO and has almost a million subscribers. He describes the event in one of his latest videos as “something like a rip-off” (via YouTube.com). He explains in the video that the event is a disappointment for him. “The new Shiny Shardragon is behind a pay wall and is linked to raids.”

How do you like the current Dragon Descent Event in Pokémon GO? Do you think it’s okay that the strong dragons are so difficult to obtain and that Niantic binds them to raids, or would you have liked better spawns and other research tasks? Write us your opinion on the topic in the comments here on MeinMMO.

Many more in-game events and bonuses will start over the next few days. See the overview of all events in December 2021 on Pokémon GO.
