2 MMORPGs postpone their big innovations to 2022 for a short time

Star Wars: The Old Republic and Corepunk should actually round off the year for MMORPGs in December. But the new expansion and the start of the beta were postponed at short notice this week. We from MeinMMO reveal what else has happened in our weekly review.

What exactly was postponed?

  • The new SWTOR expansion Legacy of the Sith was supposed to be released on December 14th. The new release is planned for February 2022.
  • Corepunk, which is reminiscent of a mixture of WoW and LoL, actually wanted to start the beta in December. It has now been postponed to “late spring” 2022 (via YouTube).

What was the highlight of the week? Lost Ark has finally got its release date in the west. That was announced at the Game Awards.

The excitement of the week: Crowfall did not appear until the summer of 2021, but it is already threatened with shutdown. The PvP MMORPG does not generate the numbers one had hoped for.

The discussion of the week: Scot Lane, the boss of New World, has commented on the falling number of players on Steam. You have hotly discussed reasons, rescue measures and similar things:

This is what the boss of New World says about the rapidly falling number of players on Steam – 83% less

This is what happened with the big MMORPGs:

  • A new cinematic has been released in WoW that finally explains important things about Sylvanas. On the other hand, there is drama in WoW Classic because surgical classes are ruining the championship season.
  • Final Fantasy XIV is still struggling with issues after the release of Endwalker. This week we wrote a guide to unknown and ephemeral collection points in Endwalker.
  • In ESO, we from MeinMMO looked back at the year 2021 and looked at what went well and what went badly.
  • Guild Wars 2 has come up with a creative solution to make the boring Legendarys of End of Dragons interesting. In addition, the first armor from the new expansion was presented (via Twitter) and the winter day returns on December 14th.
  • Black Desert has announced a new class based on the Monkey King Wukong.
  • New World has released the new patch 1.1.2. There were also adjustments to the planned changes to the equipment, which are now less drastic. There were also innovations on the PTR for patch 1.2, which will be released next week. We’ll tell you things you should do before the update is released:

New World: 5 things you should do before the release of Patch 1.2

This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • Requiem is an MMORPG from the developer of Ragnarok Online and has now been switched off. However, a new development team has been formed to bring Requiem back “soon”.
  • Toram is a mobile MMORPG slated to hit Steam soon. What makes the game stand out is that it has more than 500 billion character combinations.
  • DC Universe Online has published the new episode 42 and also started the winter event (via DaybreakGames).
  • Swords of Legends Online has released a new raid (via Gameforge).
  • ArcheAge has postponed its landrush to December 18th (via Twitter).
  • The Lord of the Rings Online has made a few adjustments to the new Gundabat expansion (via MassivelyOP).

This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:

  • A new Warhammer MMORPG has been announced that will focus on PvE and will appear in German.
  • At Camelot Unchained, after 9 years of development, there is now a hostile atmosphere.
  • A new anime MMORPG has been announced, but there is a concern with Noah’s Heart.
  • Gamigo has a new MMORPG in the pipeline, but nobody knows exactly what it is. There is a timer on the website that ends on December 15th (via uncertainfolder).

That was the news this week from the world of MMORPGs at a glance. What was your personal highlight? Did you experience anything exciting this week? Or have we forgotten something important? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO and discuss with us.
