Pokémon Diamond / Pearl Speedrunner ends game in just 16 minutes with a fishing rod
The records for the fastest speedrun for Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl are currently tumbling to the bet. The record is currently around 16 minutes. Logically, that the player could not have made this record with the normal flow of the story. In a YouTube video, he reveals how he set this record.
Pokémon Angel leads to victory over top 4
How did the YouTuber do that? The player made his way straight to the top 4 without having to go through a single fight. In the video you can see how his trick works:

After choosing his starter Pokémon, all he needs to do the trick is the fishing rod. He puts the fishing rod in two places for quick access. This means that virtually every event can be bypassed and every fight can be temporarily stopped.
In addition, the menu glitch helps him to hover in the air and run over the edge of the map directly to the top 4. As soon as the game teleports you there after the restart, you can end every sequence with the fishing trick.
How exactly the menu glitch works has already been demonstrated by another player to catch Shaymin earlier in the game:

Speed is everything
Can it be any faster? Wie Reddit-User EZScape analyzed in a thread, it is probably hardly faster to beat the game. This speed run should be a “Final Minute Barrier”. This means that this trick is probably the fastest possible and there is no technique to see the credits even faster.
But Nintendo will probably tackle the trick as soon as possible and remove it from the game. The latest patch already made sure that the trick to infinity Cloning Pokémon and Items does not work anymore. So if you want to try the Speedrun yourself, you have to be fast in the truest sense of the word.
Have you ever tried your hand at a speed run?
