Did Keanu Reeves play Cyberpunk 2077 or not?

The eternal legend about Cyberpunk 2077 just doesn’t end. The game itself is now in at least an acceptable condition, but now Keanu Reeves is making those responsible look bad. In an interview with The Verge, the actor states that he never played the title because he generally doesn’t play video games. Even though CD Projekt claims he loves Cyberpunk 2077.

Is it all just a misunderstanding?

At first glance, the statement made by Keanu Reeves CD Projekt doesn’t look good. In a financial report, CEO Adam Kicinski said specifically: “Yes. Yes, he played the game and he loves it. “The CD Projekt boss added that Reeves’ Cyberpunk 2077 has not yet played. So is it a bold lie? Not necessarily.

In the interview, Keanu Reeves states that he was shown demos of Cyberpunk 2077. It is quite conceivable that in this context, one or the other time a controller was pushed into his hand to briefly allude to a pre-launch build. Kicinski is probably referring to this, as his statements were made last December when the game was just launched. Reeves, however, speaks of the official retail version.

However, Kicinski’s statement that Keanu has not yet played through Cyberpunk 2077 indicates that he is working his way through the game and is playing it in his spare time. At the end of the day, bitterness about the game’s launch probably still plays a role for many fans when they accuse CD Projekt of lying.

As is well known, CD Projekt Red was unable to meet the original schedule for 2021. The next-gen upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 should make good progress and appear in the first half of 2022. The title’s support team has now shrunk significantly. Instead, the focus is currently on the development of the two promised story extensions. When these will come has not yet been determined.
