The Arcane LoL series has conquered many leaderboards. But did the hype stay? One month after the release, it is clear: Arcane has made series history.

Almost a month ago, surprisingly for many, Netflix published the League of Legends series. Arcane hit it like a bomb and already the first 3 episodes received massive praise. The series is now over and not only the LoL fans have seen it, but pretty much everyone else too.

There have been so many reviews now that one thing is clear: Arcane has made history when it comes to video game adaptations and is one of the best series of all time.

How did the ratings turn out? Arcane performed fantastically on two of the largest rating portals for series and films.

at „Rotten Tomatoes“ the series gets 100% from the critics. This is not so unusual on this platform, but the high user score is. There is a whopping 97% of the audience there.

Arcane placed itself equally well on the “IMDb” rating page. Arcane gets a whopping 9.1 out of 10 points and thus secures 15th place on the best list (via IMDb) of all series on the site – even before series like “Sherlock” or “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” and only just behind big series like “Game of Thrones”.

Individual episodes do even better and achieve values ​​of 9.8 – absolutely outstanding.

What’s especially impressive is that Arcane manages such a rating despite the fact that the foundation – League of Legends – is extremely controversial in the gaming community. Since League of Legends has a bad reputation among other things because of the “toxic community”, there are many gamers who cannot do anything with the game. Nevertheless, this does not seem to have been reflected in the blind “downvoting” of the Arcane series.

What do the reviews say? Basically, Arcane is praised from almost all sides. The animation technology in particular, for which Studio Fortiche already received a lot of positive feedback from the LoL trailers, is highlighted again and again. The facial expressions of the faces, the color representation – all of this works well.

In addition, there are convincing characters and a solid world building that slowly draws the viewer into the world without lingering long with extravagant explanations. Even the villains are very sophisticated characters in Arcane, so you can cheer for the villains yourself until the end.

Is there any criticism? The few criticisms that exist mainly relate to the beginning of Arcane or the end. The beginning is a bit lengthy for some and it takes time for the series to gain momentum. Only at the end of the 3rd episode do many feel really “under the spell”.

At the other end of the spectrum, the finale has received some criticism. For some, the end is a brazen cliffhanger, even though the meaning of the end is discussed many times – including on our side.
