Battlefield 2042 leaves the most popular mode in the game longer than planned, but fans are demanding even more

The game mode Battlefield 2042 Rush has been in the game since the major update 3. It was immediately well received, but it always had a catch – Rush was time-limited. The developers are now responding to fan feedback and extending the mode. So Rush can also be played over the Christmas period. But fans demand: Make the game mode permanent.

What is the game mode? With Update 3, the “Battlefield 2042 Rush” mode was added to the official Battlefield Portal playlist. Thus, the classic game mode was playable for the first time on the maps of Battlefield 2042.

Rush is best understood as a smaller version of Breakthrough. Instead of 128 players, 32 players (16 per team) compete against each other. On smaller versions of the gigantic maps, 2 teams fight for sectors on the map. Attackers attempt to plant bombs to take control of the map; Defense lawyers want to prevent them from doing so.

Rush first appeared in this form in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. It immediately became the game’s flagship and a new favorite mode in the community.

How do fans find the game mode? Also the Rush version on the maps and with the specialists from Battlefield 2042 was immediately well received. However, there was a catch from the start: The game mode is time-limited. Rush was originally only supposed to be playable until December 14th.

Since then, fans on Reddit and Twitter have been demanding that Rush be made a permanent game mode. A user on Reddit said, “The fact that Rush 2042 is not a permanent game mode in all-out warfare is one of the stupidest decisions that [die Entwickler] could do ”(via reddit).

How do the developers react? Ripple Effect Studios are the developers responsible for the Battlefield Portal. Their Senior Design Director, Justin Wiebe, responded to the fan requests in a tweet:

“After hearing the passionate reactions from all of you that you wanted Rush 2042 in the game longer, we wanted to let you know that it will not be removed on the scheduled date.”

Fans are happy, but want Rush to be part of the game forever

On reddit, the joy about this announcement is initially so great that Wiebe’s statement was misread. Although Wiebe only says that Rush will no longer be removed at the scheduled time, fans mistakenly thought: The mode will stay forever (via reddit). This statement was never made in this way.

2042 Rush should remain playable over the holidays. It is therefore to be expected that the mode will be removed again this year – at least according to the current plan.

Even if the fans are happy about the extension, the community wanted the game to stay forever and to be firmly integrated into the main game.

An overwhelmingly large part of the community would like their favorite mode to be firmly integrated into the game. It is still unclear whether the developers of Battlefield 2042 will fulfill this wish beyond Christmas.
