Dead by Daylight brings legendary Japanese “ring” killers
The next killer in Dead by Daylight is known. A true classic of Japanese horror comes into the asymmetrical killer game.
In Dead by Daylight there is an event taking place with lots of snowmen and bonus rewards, but the developers are already giving an outlook on the coming year. In a first teaser it was shown with which franchise a cooperation was entered into. Fans of Japanese horror should get their money’s worth.
What was published The trailer makes it unmistakably clear that Behavior has secured the rights to “Ringu”. The horror story is about a video cassette with a mysterious film. Anyone who watches the film in full is cursed and repeatedly plagued by calls in the coming days before he or she dies after exactly 7 years.
The origin of the curse is the psychically gifted Sadako Yamamura, who lies at the bottom of a well.
In “Ringu” the only way to escape the curse is by showing the video to another person – who is then cursed instead.
Isn’t “Ringu” “Ring”? Basically yes. Here in the West most people think of the movie from 2002 when they think of “Ring”. This is actually a remake of the Japanese original from 1998 “Ring – The Original”. The original is generally considered darker than the remake, but uses fewer special effects. In Germany, the original film “Ringu” ran a little under the radar, which is also due to the poor synchronization.
The chapter in Dead by Daylight is based on the Japanese “Ringu” film and the book by Koji Suzuki.
What can the killer do? That is still completely unclear. In “Ring” the murders take place after the victims watch a cursed video. 7 days after watching the film, the audience dies and until then they are plagued by mysterious phone calls. At the center of the film is the video cassette with the curse.
It is quite conceivable that the killer owns an object that has to be passed from survivor to survivor like a “hot potato” in order to escape the curse. Others suspect that the phone ringing could have something to do with the killer power, as this can also be heard in the trailer.
Specific information on this will probably not be available until February or March 2022, because new killers can usually only be played on the test server around 2 weeks before the release.
When does the chapter come? The “Ringu” chapter won’t come until March 2022, so it will be the next big chapter in the horror game. That Dead by Daylight announces a chapter so early is a bit unusual. Often these announcements are only made a few weeks before the release. So the horror fans already have a little outlook and can look forward to what will happen in 2022.
