Horizon Forbidden West on PS4: Guerrilla shows first screenshots

Does Aloy look good on the PS4 too?
Does Aloy look good on the PS4 too?

In early 2022, Aloy finally returns and will experience new adventures in Horizon Forbidden West. There was already plenty of gameplay to see that shows us the look of the game, but developer Guerrilla has so far limited itself to the PS5 version. We know that Horizon Forbidden West will also be released for the PS4, but images of the last-gen version have not been shown – at least until now. The first PS4 screenshots have now been published via Twitter.

PS4 screenshots show last-gen version of Horizon Forbidden West

The images have the “Captured on PS4” watermark and show larger landscape shots showing both the detailed game world and the robo-beings we will be hunting for again.

Here you can see the first PS4 footage of Horizon Forbidden West:

Unsurprisingly, the screenshots look very good, but whether they actually tell us anything about the visual quality of the PS4 version remains to be seen. Guerrilla continues to do without a gameplay trailer showing the game on the last-gen console.

Im tweet about the reveal it only says:

We showed you tons of game scenes from Horizon Forbidden West on PS5, but the game looks and plays great on PS4 too.

Big promises for the PS4 version: GamePro already spoke to Guerrilla about the PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West in the middle of the year, where big promises have already been made. Accordingly, the last-gen version should “look fantastic and play fantastic” and “make all PS4 owners happy”. In detail, that means: We can choose between 30 FPS in performance mode or the improved optics in “visual” mode on the PS4.

Guerrilla is not trying to hide the fact that the PS5 will still look better in the end. Above all, the clouds and water in Horizon Forbidden West should come across in a completely different way on the new console. And in fact, it is precisely these two elements that look a bit “glossed over” on the PS4 screenshots.

Whether the frame rate, the level of detail and the resolution on the PS4 actually leave nothing to be desired, we will not find out until the release of Horizon Forbidden West – on February 18, 2022.

Do you think the PS4 will be able to keep up with the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West?
