Pokémon GO makes Christmas even better and extends your bonuses

On December 16, the holiday event starts in Pokémon GO, which has numerous bonuses in store for you. Niantic has now announced that individual bonuses will be extended. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what they are and in what time periods you can use them.

What is it about? Due to the upcoming Christmas festival, Pokémon GO will have a holiday event starting tomorrow, December 16, 2021. This consists of two parts and also includes smaller mini-events, such as Community Day December or the winter wonderland.

In addition to lots of Pokémon that you can meet at the individual highlights of the event, the bonuses should of course not be missing on this occasion. These also differ depending on the event section. Now, however, some should apply longer.

Which bonuses are valid for longer?

As Niantic announced on their Twitter account on the evening of December 14th, you can benefit from two extended bonuses during the upcoming holiday event.

They write “Trainer, in the spirit of the holidays we have extended the exchange bonuses for our December Community Day as well as for the Winter Wonderland event.”

What bonuses should there be for these events? The following two bonuses were planned for Community Day in December and Winter Wonderland:

  • 25% less stardust costs when trading (Community Day December)
  • increased exchange distance to 40 km (winter wonderland event)

How long are these valid now? You can get the bonuses in Germany and Austria in the following periods:

  • Stardust bonus when trading: December 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. to December 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Increased exchange distance: December 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. to December 27, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

What do the coaches say about the extended bonuses?

The trainers in the community are happy about this news. Umbongo44dd writes: “I am satisfied with it. I can’t see my boyfriend that often anymore and I still have loads of Dratini and Tanhel to swap. Normally we both drive about 10 km to meet, but we don’t have to anymore. ” (via reddit.com).

But some coaches think the timing is not so well chosen and would like a general swap at a distance (via reddit.com):

  • phillypokego: “I don’t understand why you are so stingy with the long-distance exchanges.
Even if Covid ended tomorrow, the days when you meet in person to swap are long gone and will never come back. “
  • Jaus: “Probably the worst time of year for this event. I know I’m celebrating Christmas again in my hometown with no Pokemon Go friends around. I suppose a lot of people are in the same situation ”
  • umbongo44dd: “This should be permanent. I don’t see any reason why that shouldn’t be the case. “

Trainers have long wanted an increased or even suspended exchange distance. This would also make it possible to exchange happiness with friends who would otherwise probably never see each other because they live in different regions.

It is not yet known whether Niantic will generally increase the exchange distance in the future. If there is any official information about this, you can of course find out about it from us on MeinMMO.

How do you like that the bonuses have been extended? Will you take this chance and swap Pokémon diligently? Or would you have enjoyed other bonuses? Feel free to write your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.

During the holiday event, you can finally catch a special Pokémon for free that many Trainers have been waiting for for a year.
