Skald: Against the Black Priory: Ultima-style role-playing game has found a publisher and will be released at the end of 2022
Much more classic than Skald: Against the Black Priory, an RPG cannot become visually. When it comes to pixel design, solo developer Anders Lauridson orients himself with one of the forefathers par excellence: the Ultima series by Richard Garriot (aka Lord British), started in 1981. This is also reflected in the new cover artwork, which is reminiscent of a mixture of the different covers for Ultima 4 for PC and NES.
In a playful way, Skald would like to offer a “sophisticated fantasy world full of terrible monsters and unforgettable characters”, in which one fights turn-based battles and uses multiple-choice dialogues to decipher the secrets of the game world. Although the setting exudes pure nostalgia, Skald should also offer some modern features.
After a playable prologue appeared on Steam and GOG in June, Raw Fury (including Kingdom: Two Crowns) has now become aware of the project and will support and publish the game as a publisher.
“Forging an alliance with Raw Fury enables me to take my dream project to the next level”says Lauridsen about the collaboration. “The Skald project is now in full swing and I can’t wait to bring my fantastic community something that will both bring back good memories and create new ones for years to come!”
Skald: Against the Black Priory will be released on PC in late 2022
