FIFA 22 starts a completely new event tomorrow – what’s the use of winter wildcards?

The next event is coming up in FIFA 22. Winter Wildcards is a completely new promo, but what could be hidden behind the name?

When does Winter Wildcards start? The new event starts on Friday, December 17th. This is also indicated by a new loading screen in Ultimate Team.

Winter Wildcards will replace the current Versus event. The newly started icon swaps will of course continue to run as usual.

What is winter wildcards? If you look at the calendar, it seems to be this year’s “bigger” winter event. It used to be the “Futmas” event, but it was replaced by “Freeze” in FIFA 21. Now we obviously have a new successor.

So far, no official information is known about what content Winter Wildcards will bring. However, there are already rumors and alleged leaks that could give an indication of what to expect.

What is hidden in the winter wildcard event?

This could happen in the event: If you look at the predecessor wildcards, there are a few possibilities that are conceivable. FUT Freeze, for example, brought changes in position for players, while Futmas made itself popular with regular player SBCs.

Alleged leaks are already making the rounds on Twitter about what content the event could bring. Among other things, the channel “FUTZone” (via Twitter) talked about some, but not all, event players getting a change of position. For example, FUTZone had already published information in advance of the Icon Swaps that turned out to be correct.

In addition, according to the leaker, more “swaps” are to be added – but not icon swaps, but “winter wildcard swaps”, which also work by completing tasks and exchanging tokens. According to FUTZone, these should not come until the end of December (via Twitter).

In addition, FUTZone also speaks of special event SBCs and some player names that could be included in wildcards. These include an improved version of Zaha, Neymar, Pogba, Spinazzola or Coman.
