Minecraft makes history, becomes the first game with 1 trillion YouTube views

There is no end to the Minecraft success story. No other game has generated as many views as Mojang’s Sanbox game.

Not only are video games great entertainment in and of themselves, they also spawn countless videos on YouTube. No matter if guides, Let’s Plays or crazy challenges. But one game overshadows all others.

Minecraft has now reached a milestone that no other game in history has achieved. There are now more than a billion views of Minecraft videos on YouTube. Or to write it out: Minecraft videos have now been viewed 1,000,000,000,000 times.

How big is Minecraft anyway? Huge – and that’s not an exaggeration. Although the game is now 10 years old, it has an extremely large player base. There are more than 141 million active monthly users. That was certainly reinforced by the pandemic, but hardly any other game is likely to come close to such numbers.

What Makes Minecraft So Popular? The big advantage of Minecraft is that there are videos in almost all branches. When you look at Minecraft videos on YouTube, it’s not just about people playing games. Instead, there are numerous sub-categories, each of which has its own charm.

• Guides & Lehr-Videos: The complex redstone system allows technical, complex systems such as automatic harvesting systems, lighting for an entire city, sophisticated trap systems or hidden secret doors or mob spawners that automatically collect resources from enemies. Players discover new possibilities almost every day – and guides to individual systems are extremely popular.
• Story & Survival: In addition to the instructional videos, Minecraft is also simply entertaining. Watching streamers build a game world together, roleplay or set traps for each other is quite entertaining. Others try to survive as long as possible in a hardcore world that is blocked when they die for the first time.
• Creativity and the imposing: At heart, Minecraft is a creative game where players can let their imaginations run wild.
