Destiny 2 finally gives useless snowballs a function again – this is how you best use them

In Destiny 2, there have been snowballs lying around on the tower since the first Dawning event. Now Bungie has changed its function again, making it more useful than ever. You can find out why you should use them and how strong they are here on MeinMMO.

What are snowballs in Destiny 2? In Destiny 2, that was the snow-covered areas on the Guardians’ social space. There, players could pick up a ball of snow and throw it at fellow keepers.

Guardians could then take the liberty of joking and start a snowball fight. If you were hit by a ball, you were slowed down and couldn’t pick up another projectile for a while.

For the Anbruch event in 2021, however, Bungie thought of something else and redesigned this nice gimmick into something more useful. Now you can use them in combat again, upgrade them and benefit from them.

Snowballs are useful tools in combat

The change to Bungie will allow you to find the snowballs again in select activities and across Europe. They are very useful because they can freeze and even kill opponents.

Eva Levante, the organizer of the winter event, also offers numerous upgrades that make your snowballs more effective and deadly. For this you only need 20 moods of dawn per upgrade, which you get by raiding, delivering cookies or collecting ingredients with the ship “Star Driver 7M”.

What upgrades are there? There are five upgrades that build on each other. So you cannot buy the last upgrade, you have to buy the previous ones first. These are all upgrades with an effect:

• Long Winter – Increases the length of time snowballs slow down
• Longer Winter – Increases the slowing effect on fighters who have been damaged by the snowball
• The Longest Winter – Snowballs instantly freeze opponents after taking damage
• Stay cool – snowballs leave a stasis mine when hit
• Infinite Gift – Shattering frozen enemies will cause them to drop snowballs

Does the mod “focus lens” also work? In the 15th season artifact there is a mod called “Focus Lens”. Equipped with this in the class item, you can cause bonus damage to enemies if they are affected by stasis.

Because Bungie has given the frosty balls the element “stasis”, you can benefit from this mod. Simply freeze your opponents and ensure the last blow with your thunderclap or the nova bomb.
