Becoming a FIFA professional with a disability – a role model for everyone

In this episode of the MeinMMO podcast, FIFA pro Niklas Lugisland talks about his career and the difficulties it posed.

Niklas Lugisland has achieved what many only dream of: He became a FIFA professional and successfully runs a Twitch channel. He has lived with the rare glass bone disease since he was born. Niklas is therefore in a wheelchair.

One would think that a disability should be completely irrelevant, especially in e-sports. There should be equality of opportunity in virtual sport. However, this does not correspond to reality. Niklas is a unicorn in the FIFA scene and in esports. Gaming is still not limitless.

Leya spoke to the FIFA pro about the difficulties of getting started in esports when you have a disability. It starts with questions like: Does the team bus have a ramp that you can use to get into the bus in a wheelchair? Niklas explains how he did it and how others can do the same.

His team captain was also there Angelo Bülow and Saskia Moes from Gaming without limits. The group philosophizes in general about why gaming is not yet limitless and what needs to change here.
