The PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is now also free with PS Plus.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released last year, but had some innovations in 2021 and was able to increase the number of players through various offers. The main event was clearly in March 2021 when the remake was part of the PS Plus lineup.

At that time, however, only the PS4 version was offered and the PS5 upgrade, which appeared three months later, was not included in the subscription and was full price. That should change this week just before Christmas.

Free upgrade despite PS Plus: According to this, all players * who secured the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS Plus in March 2021 will already be able to upgrade to a free PS5 on December 22, 2021. That wasn’t possible before. The only requirement is that you added the game to your library in March – the game will not be part of the Plus offer again.

You get that through it: With this upgrade you have access to the entire main game for the PlayStation 5. In addition to improved loading times, a 60 FPS mode and a photo mode, better textures also come into play. That means with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is also the famous, very mushy door story:

DLC content on sale: In addition to the main game, there is also a new story mission called Intermission. She introduces Ninja Yuffie and her colleague Sonon, who both come to Sector 7 to meet with the resistance movement. They experience their very own adventure.

This DLC is not included in the free upgrade and usually costs 20 euros. For a limited period of time, this will now only cost 15 euros. This means you get the additional content at a reduced price in line with the PS5 upgrade, which is now free of charge.

Is that a sign of change for PS Plus?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t the only game on PS Plus that was only offered in the PS4 version, although a PS5 version also existed. Only this month there is only the old edition with Mortal Shell instead of the expanded and improved version that was released for the PS5. Many fans were very disappointed after the announcement.

Are there any more PS5 upgrades coming? This change now could at least be a sign that publishers have dealt with the feedback. Even if it comes very late, the upgrade offer should be viewed positively and could perhaps be made up for by other games in the future.

But the other direction would also be fair to players who may not have or do not want to have a PS5 yet. So this year there were games like Wreckfest, A Plague Tale: Innocence or Oddworld: Soulstorm only in the version for the PS5. It remains to be seen whether other manufacturers will join Square Enix.

How do you feel about Square Enix’s decision? Will you be playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake again?
