Pokémon GO: Research breakthrough in January with Onix, trainers are disappointed

The Pokémon GO research breakthrough in January 2022 is the Pokémon Onix. In the social networks, coaches are disappointed. We’ll show you what the community has to say about it.

That is new: On the evening of December 22, 2021, the Pokémon GO team announced the January 2022 content. The research breakthrough rewards you after seven days with the Pokémon Onix, which comes from the first generation.

However, players are dissatisfied with this “reward”. It is said that one would have hoped for a better selection after the last few months. We’ll show you here on MeinMMO what’s going on in the community.

Catching Onix in January – Research Breakthrough

That’s what you get for the breakthrough: If you achieve a research breakthrough in January 2022, you will be rewarded with an Onix encounter and mega-energy for Stahlos. If you’re lucky, you might encounter Shiny-Onix and catch it.

How long does it count? The research breakthrough in January 2022 is active from January 1, 2022 at 10:00 p.m. to February 1, 2022 at 10:00 p.m.

Onix comes from the first generation of the game and has been available since the release of Pokémon GO in 2016.

What does Shiny Onix look like? In the following graphic we show you the original Onix in comparison with the shiny shape. The shiny is green instead of gray.

“The worst breakthrough since …?”

This is what coaches say: On reddit and Twitter, the reactions to Onix as a research breakthrough have been quite negative. Especially after the research breakthrough in December, which “was finally good again”, the disappointment is now great.

This is how the user writes down CursedMadness Twitter: “I mean, at least we get mega-energy. But how can we switch from Kapuno to ONIX? Uff ”

User FlamesClover says Twitter: I have no need for Onix, but I will gladly take the mega-energy. “

on reddit TryDoingaScience writes: Are we switching from Kapuno to Onix in breakthroughs? Really? Kapuno gave me hope that they are in the process of improving the research breakthroughs. I was wrong about that. That must be the worst breakthrough since … what, Blumenkranz-Eevee? ” – In September and October 2019, Eevee with flower wreath were the reward for the research breakthrough.

Player SBC1321 writes down reddit: “Onix breakthrough has to be one of the worst ever. I am grateful for the mega-energy, but still … ”

To this, krispyboiz replies defusing:

“To be honest, it’s not good, but I don’t think it’s the worst.

Fleknoil was terrible. I don’t care that they introduced Fleknoil with it, it was still a useless Pokémon and that came out into the wild shortly afterwards. Think of it as a breakthrough NOW.

Flower wreath Eevee was bad. Not the worst as it wore a relatively rare costume and has some use, but it came at a time when Eevee was still commonly found in the wild.

It’s crazy, though, that in January it was two years ago that Legendary Pokémon made their breakthrough. To be honest, it would be really nice to only have legendaries for a month or two a year. Maybe June and December. Would be better than nothing. “

Just recently there was a big problem with raids in Pokémon GO and Trainers weren’t at all enthusiastic about how Niantic dealt with the bug.
