You should be playing New World right now if you ever want to return to the MMO

The winter event will run in New World until the beginning of January. And that’s ideal for increasing your endgame equipment skills and earning dollars quickly. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch is convinced that gambling is really worth it now – precisely because you only have to invest a few minutes.

What’s going on in New World right now? With the big December patch, the endgame content was revised. This mainly affected the loot and equipment system. Because since then you can see exactly how high your competence is and you can also increase it in a much more targeted manner. Competence is an important value in the endgame, which we will explain in more detail.

Competence can be increased particularly easily via the winter event in New World. Because within a few minutes and with almost no effort, you can win between 2 and 5 levels. All other methods cost you at least 30 minutes or involve drop luck, which can be annoying.

There are also 300 free thalers a day that you shouldn’t miss.

This makes the winter event an ideal time to play New World again.

Increase skills and earn talers – that’s how it works

What makes the event so lucrative? In short: Diamond-Gypsum. This is a new material that you get when you interact with a tree of light. They are in old settlements in the territories that players can also conquer.

You can earn 3 Diamond Gypsum every day. To do this, you have to interact with three different trees. Exactly for these first three uses per day you will also receive 100 thalers each, which brings you a total of 300 thalers.

After the three uses you can interact with other trees in other settlements, but these two rewards are then lost.

The only requirement for the Taler is level 15 and for the Gypsum level 60.

What do I do with the gypsum? You can burn 3 Diamond Gypsum at a time in a plaster furnace to make a plaster ball. The ovens are located in all cities of the areas in which no territories can be conquered – such as Deep Gorge or Bruchberg.

A plaster ball, in turn, can be used for any equipment slot in order to increase competence there by 2 to 5.

What exactly is competence? Competence indicates the value of the highest equipment that has been dropped to you, and at the same time plays an important role in future drops.

Because whenever you get an item of equipment that has the same or a lower value than your competence, your chances of getting a better item automatically increase:

• You always start with a 1% chance of a better drop
• Every worse drop increases this chance by 0.1%
• After 990 drops you have a 100% chance of a better drop. This luck applies to drops from opponents as well as chests.

At level 60 it is automatically 500 and can be increased to a maximum of 590. At level 590 you always have a chance that an item with the maximum armor value of 600 will be dropped.

Why is competence still important? A patch should come in 2022, through which your armament value will be influenced by the competence. The values ​​should meet exactly in the middle:

Why exactly should I play the winter event now? If you want to grind your competence, you have to invest a lot of time:

• You can play about two rounds of Outpost Rush (about 45-60 minutes)
• You can run the tough endgame dungeons (with group search and the run for 30+ minutes)
• You can grind in the open world (15-60 minutes, but somewhat dependent on drop luck)

Or you simply interact with 3 trees during the event, which will hardly take 3 minutes and will also bring you 300 thalers. And since competence is becoming more and more important in the long term, you should simply invest these 3 minutes a day.

If you don’t have a character at level 60, you can use the quests from the winter event and the new city quests to level up. The city quests in particular are designed to be super easy and usually also allow you to improve your professions a bit.

If you think about going back to New World in a few weeks or months when there is new content, you will be annoyed that you didn’t just visit the 3 Trees of Light a day. Because they give you a really strong push in terms of equipment.
