3 mistakes that FIFA 22 has to make better at Ultimate Team in 2022
The first months in FIFA 22 are over and now the eponymous year 2022 is in the starting blocks. The Ultimate Team mode in particular has been regularly updated with new content. What else could FUT turn in the coming year??
Ultimate Team is probably the biggest mode in FIFA 22. There are regularly new cards, events and weekly tasks to keep players engaged.
This year there were a few new features in FUT compared to its predecessor in FIFA 21. For example:
- a new weekend league system with fewer games on weekends. And the Weekend League qualification has only just been improved, which would otherwise have ended up on this list.
- the ability to regularly check out preview packs from the start of the season without spending coins.
- An outdated Division-Rivals system.
But while these changes were largely positively received, there were also a few things that annoyed players in Ultimate Team that FIFA 22 should definitely improve over the next year. We present 3 of them to you here.
Less weird mistakes
What was the problem? It happened several times in Ultimate Team 2021 that things somehow didn’t work as planned. That started in October, for example, when the red cards from the Weekend League Rewards were suddenly exchangeable and landed on the transfer market.
There were also other problems, such as:
There were also errors at the Versus event, for example, when the wrong cards were put into packs. Such mistakes meant that players then had to wait for equalizations and thus frustration.
Then there are also little things, such as the wrong display of special cards in matches, on which no player picture can be seen. This is the kind of thing that FIFA 22 should definitely work on.
Improved and reliable gameplay
What is the problem? In and of itself, there is a lot of good things in the gameplay of FIFA 22 this year, but some things can just be frustrating – this is also emphasized again and again in the FIFA subreddit. This includes, for example, that in some matches the player change simply does not work, although everything is done as usual, but the wrong player is still selected.

Here it happens that, despite successful tackles, you simply cannot get the ball and it just bounces back to the opponent.
The strange thing is that such problems don’t happen all the time, but just pop up suddenly every now and then. A remedy should definitely be found here.
Exciting, Creative Events
What is the problem? While well-known events like Rulebreakers or the “Team of the Group Stage” were well received by the community, newcomers like “Signature Signings”, “Numbers Up” and especially “Versus” had a somewhat more difficult stand for some players.
The criticism: too often uninspired or well-known cards appear at the events, which would then simply get a boost to any stats. The “Versus” event was still eagerly awaited, as the prospect of “different versions of the same card” in the Fire and Ice versions was quite interesting. In the end, however, the cards were simply too similar to each other and the real appeal of the event was wasted.
A welcome exception this year was the current “Winter Wildcards” event. There was not only a strong promotional team here, but also an abundance of unusual player SBCs and a new swap system, with which you can earn rewards. Winter Wildcards actually motivates you to check regularly what’s new and actually feels like an “event” that goes beyond a pure promotional team.
Ultimate Team should orient itself to this in 2022 and offer more varied events to keep the excitement high.
