Most streamed game: Fortnite

  • Streamzeit: 1,009,436 hours
  • Followers on Twitch: 79.3 million (via Twitch)
  • Genre: Battle Royale, Shooter
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android

What kind of game is this? Fortnite was developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games. The shooter was launched on July 25, 2017 and is now one of the most successful games in the world. Fortnite consists of 2 different modes: “Save the world” and “Battle Royal”.

In the paid mode “Save the world” the aim is to survive alone or in a team with the appropriate resources and to build a fortress that you defend from zombies during the night.

The free mode “Battle Royal” throws up to 100 players onto an island. Only one or one team can win the game. During the game, you can collect weapons, equipment, and farm resources that let you build things.

Why is Fortnite successful on Twitch? The “Battle Royal” mode is particularly popular on Twitch: Every game looks different and many aim to get the most kills. With the ability to build things out of nothing to quickly escape or hide, the game is more complex and more strategic than it initially appears.

With the new events, updates and skins that Fortnite receives regularly, the game will not be boring for viewers and streamers.

Most Viewed Game: Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5)

  • Followers on Twitch: 51 million (via Twitch)
  • Genre: Shooter, action RPG
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

What kind of game is this? GTA 5 was developed by Rockstar North and celebrated its release on September 17, 2013 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. In the huge open world, players can engage in criminal activities, drive their cars around or simply people on the sidewalk beat up.

Why is GTA 5 successful on Twitch? The online mode in connection with role-playing games in particular has become extremely attractive for Twitch streamers. There are many different role-playing servers on which the most diverse communities come together and play with each other.

Streamers then randomly or deliberately take on the role of a character and then play it in the stream. Is the streamer a cop? Then he has to play the role convincingly. As a rule, he is not allowed to just amusingly arrest anyone, but has to conduct “real” investigations.

The streamer talks to other real participants in the role-playing game. Viewers feel regularly entertained by the various personalities and the acting.
