2022 starts soon and in the new year you can expect some game highlights. In this list, we at MeinMMO reveal what is going on with MMOs and online games in January and which games are particularly worthwhile.
What kind of games are they? The selected games are online games that you can experience together with friends or completely strangers. Each game either celebrates its release in January 2022 or receives an update that brings major innovations.
On the last page there is also a little preview of what will happen in January. These include smaller updates, beta events or releases that only take place towards the end of the month.
How did this list come about? This list is intended to inform you about new releases and updates and was compiled by the MMORPG expert Alexander Leitsch. Each game will be presented in more detail in the course of the article and it will be revealed for whom the respective title is worthwhile.

What kind of game is this? In the anime action role-playing game Genshin Impact you fight monsters, explore a colorful fantasy world and complete tasks. You will always unlock new characters and equipment.
This can be done either via the regular game or via a controversial gacha system, in which you have to spend real money to get loot boxes with weapons or heroes.
However, the game convinces with a variety of tasks, daily quests and new service updates, which makes it almost a kind of MMO.

The new patch 2.4 will be released on January 5th. Among other things, it brings two new characters, the heroes Shenhe and Yin Jin. You can also expect new story quests, a new map and many new monsters.
In January, the Lantern Festival in Liyue returns, which some players should already know from last year. In 2022, however, there is a new event boss who is described as particularly strong.
