Fans are recreating 25-year-old MMORPGs in Minecraft and finally wanted to see new features

Because they wanted features that they didn’t get, fans simply recreated their favorite MMORPG Tibia (PC) entirely in Minecraft. The game is called Project Tibia 3D and has a lot of content.

What kind of game is this? Tibia is a 25 year old MMORPG from Germany, almost to the day. To this day, the game is loved and played by many people. During the corona pandemic, the number of players also increased significantly.

Although it comes from Germany, Tibia is rather unknown here on site. The MMORPG can inspire a large part of its player base in Brazil, Poland and Mexico (via Tibia).

Tibia is still played from the top-down view and, due to its age, lacks many features that one is used to from today’s MMORPGs. To change that, fans simply recreated the entire game in Minecraft.

What can Project Tibia 3D do? The fan-built 3D tibia launched on January 1st, 2022 and can now be played by anyone who owns Minecraft. The main focus of the fans was on social interaction, guild building and monster hunting, as they write themselves.

They also worked on the balance of professions and different monsters, as well as built in a new play-to-earn system in which you can earn more by playing more.

Project Tibia 3D is based on version 8.64 of Tibia, a slightly older version of the MMORPG, but also brings features from newer updates as well as fan-built content.

This includes the following features:

  • Battles that can also cast spells
  • Create and manage guilds
  • Offline training that allows you to improve while you are offline
  • PvP und PvE-Events
  • Housing and new features for property management
  • Over 70 new quests
  • 300 new monsters
  • 400+ new models and textures to make Minecraft look more like Tibia

So you can play the Minecraft MMORPG

How can you participate? To play with Project Tibia 3D, you only need Minecraft version 1.11.2. You don’t need mods to play the MMORPG. With these instructions you will be in the game in a few minutes:

  • Open Minecraft version 1.11.2, select multiplayer and add a new server
  • You can choose the server name as usual. The server address is as follows: pt3d.serverminecraft.net
  • Server Resource Packs must be activated in order to access the server
  • Once in the game or on the server, you have to type in / register account password to create an account. You replace “account” with your account name and “password” with your password
  • Then you type / login account password and replace the variables again with your chosen data
  • To create a new character, you type then / add character name
  • Then press F, choose your character and start exploring Project Tibia 3D
